We purchased a trail cam several months ago and just got it installed a couple of weeks ago. Yes, my hubby was slacking in getting it set up outdoors. Our dogs frequently go into a tizzy at night. We can go out there and see nothing. That is why we got the trail cameras.
This was the first critter we captured on the camera. It's an armadillo. They are common here in the south so not surprising at all. It was captured out on the railroad ties where hubby has his shooting targets set up.
Do you have armadillos in your area or neighborhood?

Had to look twice to see the little armadillo. We have them here all over the place and possums too. Will be interesting to see what else shows up on your camera.

I never see one around my area. But I don't know whether I might see one if I step further into the woods. I live in rural area after all. But it's not really safe to go there. At least I know there are wild boars roaming. I don't want to meet one.

Thanks for introducing me to an armadillo. Cute!
Nope, I don't think we have armadillos here.

@kareng With my daughters, such creatures are cute. For example, the Yeti in Abominable is cute. Raya's sidekick, a pangolin, or probably an armadillo, in the upcoming Disney flick, is cute.
I know cute is a simply a nice word but it has become a cutesy word for us.

Our little adopted dog, Honey disappeared. I do believe she went home with the man working across the street. Both of the little ones were over there and I called them home but only Jessie came. As long as she has a good home, I'm good with it. Still not nice taking a dog with a collar. I was attached to her too.

@crazyhorseladycx We get so many here that are skin and bones coming out of the woods where hunters have left them. It's really a shame. She was in bad shape when she came, very thin and covered with fleas and ticks. She was filling out and I had finally gotten all the fleas off of her. He better take care of her!

Your husband should use the armadillo as a shooting target! haha
I see armadillos all over the place around here. Especially ones in the roadways that have become roadkill.

Yes, they are common on the road! We encountered a wild pig slaughtered on the road last night. It was so mangled I had to ask the hubby what was that??!! It must have been hit by 18 wheeler in the middle of the road like that. He was huge.

@kareng Wild hogs are abundant here. Too abundant, as they tear everything up they encounter. They sure are good eatin' though!

@Tampa_girl7 I've never seen them be aggressive like some other critters can be. They have that armor or protection on their side.
