An adventure on the beach

When we attended the endurance ride at Boat Harbour in Western Australia, we drove out to a beach area where the horses would go. Although the beach itself was firm sand, the track leading to it was deep, dry sand and we managed to get ourselves bogged. Luckily, a young man came along and towed us out. When we went back next day, we let the tyres down a little which made all the difference. You can see the beach in the top left photo; also a mob of emus which we saw in a paddock and some pretty blue wildflowers which were prolific along the sides of the road.

Cool images! Sorry you got stuck. Wow. I wonder ... it looks sort of like the sand might behave similar to how snow does if you drive in it

@FayeHazel Someone else said that except that you wouldn't let your tyres down as an aid to getting out.

The sand is deep and the more vehicles churning it up the deeper it seems to become.

We had to go over the same road next morning but we'd let our tyres down and took a slightly different track through the sand. We didn't have any trouble that time.

@crazyhorseladycx Some of the young ones almost look to get stuck just for the fun of it. Some older guys do too!!

We finished our holiday taking photos at an endurance ride and we got bogged in dry sand. But it wasn't too big a drama.

@noni1959 We have a compressor now so if we let the tyres down it's not so hard to pump them up again. It's not good to drive on bitumen with the tyres at low pressure.

It means the tyres have a wider profile so traction is better.

@JudyEv I love going to the beach. I love nature. I really want to take my little one for a swim at the beach but we are still very cautious because I also have my folks over 60s.

I'm pretty sure it's Dampiera. Maybe Dampiera linearis as there are several different species. Two others are a groundcover and a small shrub but D. linearis grows from 15-60cm high which fits with the ones I saw.
