Processing Sadness

They say if one puts one's emotions to pen and paper it helps release the emotions: journaling our thoughts can be a helpful lifeline.
Today a sadness has befallen me - as our darling Picasso exhaled his last whimper and is journeying to a place where all the furry loved ones go.
Sadly after a dental procedure, his kidneys went into failure and he died in my arms while his heart took its last beats. Traumatic, unexpected as he was still fighting fit five weeks ago. They will be doing an autopsy to see if anything else might have contributed to his sudden death.
Sleep eludes me this night and I know it is time to pen my sorrows to paper so that my own heart and soul can find peace in what transpired today. I am going to miss his lively character, his unconditional love, his warm cuddles every night, his welcome home meow when I open the door and his walks with me in the garden. I will miss him, I miss him already!
Thank you for reading and listening.

I am sorry you lost your cat. At least his last moments were in your arms. Yes, he will be missed.

You're welcome. I lost a cat almost four years ago, He passed of kidney failure, too. However, his wasn't a surprise as he passed at the age of 19 and had been sick for three years. @Inlemay

Our pets are part of our family and losing them is traumatic and like losing any other loved one. I am so sorry for your loss.
