Vaccines For Covid Are Coming

For all of the unfortunate dissent toward President Donald Trump's efforts to combat Coronavirus, it appears that the administration was grandly successful in their efforts to ramp up efforts to get much needed vaccines out to the American people, and people abroad. While so many were complaining he was not doing enough, I think what this administration accomplished was something that no other administration could have in the time that they did. This accomplishment should, perhaps, go down as one of the administration's greatest accomplishments actually. But unfortunately because it was the accomplishment of President Trump, and all of the wonderful people who were involved with Operation Warp Speed... The accomplishment will be dismissed. And when the vaccines work, and Coronavirus becomes a mere horrible memory in our not so distant past. The one who will get credit for any accomplishment will be Joe Biden. Wouldn't it be nice if even those who did not support Trump are able to rise up on this one and admit, "We were wrong on this one," and congratulate him in his final days in office?

Nope. Nope. No one is going to tell me I have to get a vaccine. Plus I can't. I had meningitis. Doctors have told me I can't have them, flu shots. That sort of stuff..

I am not a big fan of vaccines either, and have not had a flu shot for many, many years. I probably will not get this vaccine either personally. But I am glad you said, "No one is going to tell me I have to get a vaccine." Because unfortunately the ones who MIGHT force it are the democrats. They have forced lockdowns. They have forced mask wearing. They have forced curfews and capacity restrictions. Who is to stop them from forcing a vaccination?

@porwest I haven't worn a mask in two months. The signs are up but there's no mandate here in Florida,so they can shove their sign up there butts.

And here we go. Of course Trump has not said anywhere that people have to take the vaccine but it will be available. You are totally right, the Biden party will (they already are) take the credit for this magically speedy vaccine and have already said something about it being mandatory. We will have to wait and see. As the very next post after this one proves, Trump still won't get credit.

@Nameless It is a shame that we cannot accept the accomplishment. Even when Obama got Osama Bin Laden, conservatives could rejoice that whoever was responsible ultimately, that a very bad man was no more.

They say we won't get it unless our governor ask for it. I definitely won't be getting it soon as it does come out - I need more information on it and to be sure it really does work. I have underlying health issues so I'm not gonna jump right on it. I will wait awhile.

@porwest yeah you are right. But I think I will still wait before getting it, i'm safe just by sticking at home and not going anywhere unless I have too.

I am not sure the governors would deny it. That would seem silly to me. But I definitely get the "I want to wait to know more about it" stance. I tend to not do vaccinations in any event, so it would be unlikely I would get this one either. But I do think at least having them out there and available might help curb infections just a wee bit, and that wee bit might be just enough to start seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

@Blondie2222 I am not sure if that's necessarily true. You might remember back when New York had the strictest stay at home orders and the most widespread shut down, it also became THE hot spot for new cases and deaths. Something Cuomo even admitted he could not truly explain. The best answer for a solution to the virus is, "We don't know what works."

I think many Biden supporters will never do that unfortunately. If this covid thing happened during the Biden presidency I doubt he'd get a vaccine out there this fast.

I thought Pfizer wasn't part of Operation Warp Speed?

@NJChicaa Regardless of who is responsible, or who gets credit, and despite I think few people will actually get the vaccine, if it is a beginning to the end of this whole thing I'll be happy just for that alone.

It was. The Trump administration would give Pfizer $1.95 billion for 100 million doses of vaccine if they can complete it by the end of the year. Looks like they did, and they can, and so Pfizer will be paid $1.95 billion from Operation Warp Speed. Another little tidbit the media simply refuses to report.

I just hope that they can find a way to distribute the vaccine since it has such temperature requirements. I think Pfizer should be congratulated. You must not have heard what Trump said to the media: "Covid, Covid, Covid....The only reason we are showing so many cases is because we're doing more testing than any other country"...or words to that effect. 180,000+ new cases yesterday; and we are breaking records every day. I applaud Operation Warp Speed for getting the $ to Pfizer; but our President should not be tired of hearing about Covid -- It's part of his job.

@porwest someone in the medical community told me recently that the covid antibodies can stay in a person's system for up to three months. If a person gets tested after they had it that could look like a new case when it really isn't.

The only reason we are showing so many cases is because we're doing more testing. I think he has a point. Unless I am wrong, when testing was not widely available the number of cases were not as high because people couldn't get tested. That doesn't mean large numbers of people didn't have it. They just didn't know they did.

@lovebuglena The government ALWAYS fudges numbers a bit when it comes to an outcome they want. In this case, it was an outcome wanted by those who opposed Trump in the bureaucracy which includes the CDC and the WHO, whom Trump also criticized. MANY people do not fully understand a very large part of the bureaucracy is made up of liberals. BTW, fudging of numbers is something both sides do. So I am not saying Trump is immune to it. One huge example is always the unemployment numbers. We report the main unemployment figure which is the number of people applying for and receiving benefits. Once a person falls off the rolls, they are not counted. The REAL unemployment number is always the U-6 rate which accounts for ALL people not working who are not in a retirement status and who are not currently on disability. The U-6 rate is always higher than the reported rate, and accounts for the ACTUAL unemployment figures. The Obama administration was notorious for touting lowering unemployment when all that was really happening is people's benefits had run out. The U-6 rate told an entirely different story. During his term(s) the unemployment rate was falling and the U-6 rate was rising, meaning ACTUALLY more people were not regaining employment than was being suggested, and unemployment was actually worse than what people were lead to believe. What people fail to understand with the rising Covid numbers is that thousands of testing locations were opened up and funded by the CDC and WHO in order to make the number of cases seem worse. As you said...more tests means more confirmed cases which makes the numbers better match their desired narrative. During this entire "pandemic" people have simply been played. And unfortunately few people are willing to take the time actually research much of what is really happening, and instead rely on the media to get their information, which largely slants that information with an agenda in mind. In this case, to make Trump's efforts look fruitless.

I don't like Trump or the vaccine. So far I have only seen that the vaccine works like the flu shot, put the flu in your system. I don't want that and I am allergic to Cillan meds, where it puts illnesses in your system. So I don't think that I would like the Covid vaccine either.
