Smoked Chicken for Dinner

Could not resist this smoked chicken from the deli of our local grocery store. Had to run pick up up a few things earlier. They were just taking these off the smoker. I never buy these from the store. I always make my own. But I could not help myself today. The meat has now been taken off the bones and in the refrigerator. Forgot to snap a photo before I took the meat off the bones. Not my photo. Will probably have a sandwich shortly for dinner. And I plan to make some chicken salad. There was a ton of meat, it was a big chicken. It will make several meals.

Sorry about that. Had to share. Many days I have no appetite, so I was proud when this chicken smelled and tasted so good. Leftovers now will be good.

Some chickens are huge nowadays. I guess they've been specially bred to get big quickly.

Native chicken or those grown naturally is still the best.

I did not know it was possible to get smoked chicken in the states. Smoked chicken is very popular in Latvia and it can be bought everywhere. We used to smoke chicken in a garden smokehouse in Latvia,

Enjoy your dinner. My older son just texted me a photo of a smoked chicken he made for dinner tonight. Lol! He has a Green Egg smoker. What do you use? I'd love to smoke a variety of things.

I think it is a Cuisinart smoker. Haven't used it in awhile. It is covered on the deck for the winter.

It’s nice to take the easy way now and then. Hmm I can’t even think what I ate for dinner. I know I got groceries so I had to sanitize them when I got home but I don’t recall what I ate. I think I actually didn’t eat anything but had pie for a bedtime snack.

I did a roasted chicken yesterday that was already seasoned and in the bag so that all I had to do was stick it in the pan and put in the oven. It turned out so moist and good and there was some left over with plenty of flavorful chicken broth that will be used in another meal (should have put it in the freezer to save till Thanksgiving to season the cornbread dressing)

@CarolDM I have never made chicken salad? What do you put in your chicken salad? I have made egg salad and potato salad and salmon salad but never chicken salad. The chicken in the picture looks interesting.

It is a preference. I like mayo and a little pickle relish. The chicken is slow cooked and has a dark skin on the outside, very good.

I was just getting ready to say, I usually prefer to smoke my own. But sometimes you just want it now, and of course, it takes hours and hours and hours to smoke one at home. I bet it was delicious.

I'm sure it will be good. We get rotisserie chickens from time to time. I used to bake my own but not so much lately. I don't get them much because we prefer dark meat and there's not much on chickens. I do cut the white meat for sandwiches though.

They are different. This one is cooked slow in a closed smoker. Kind of like a grill you use for burgers, etc.
