What do you eat for Thanksgiving dinner?

I find it interesting to learn what other people's families have as their traditional Thanksgiving meal. There are always some surprises. We have roast turkey breast, stuffing/dressing, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes (no marshmallows), green bean casserole, roasted carrots, rolls, gravy, and a green salad. Pumpkin pie for dessert. We have cheese and crackers and shrimp cocktail as appetizers. I don't know why my mom bothers with the salad. No one ever touches it. What do YOU have? I know that macaroni and cheese is traditional in African-American families. Some people do ham instead of turkey. Many Southerners have collards. Share with us!

Turkey, Ham, Dressing, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, Potato Salad, Pot Roast, uhm.. Regular green beans... Rolls, Cornbread... Honestly it's differed for me. We always have Pumpkin Pie and sometimes Pecan Pie too. This year will be slightly different since I doubt I'll be celebrating it with my aunt. We're doing a freindsgiving and I'll be bringing some keto stuff.

@NJChicaa I know, I was surprised the first time I saw it on the table at my aunts. We usually do turkey and ham because some like one and not the other.

Our Thanksgiving dinner is the same as yours but we have more veggies. Broccoli bake instead of green bean casserole, turnips, carrots ( sometimes with white cream sauce) stuffed mushrooms and breaded and fried cauliflower. Dessert is pumpkin pie, apple pie, brownies and some sort of homemade cookies. There's always whipped cream and ice cream for the pies

@Marilynda1225 You remind me that hubby wants to stuff some mushrooms soon. We bought a tub of parmesan cheese for that reason.

Thanksgiving is an American only thing. No celebrations in other countries.

@kobesbuddy Well, this is understandable. Thanksgiving has to do with the Pilgrim Fathers and the first settlers in North America.

Canada has a Thanksgiving family holiday, during the month of October, I think.

Ours sounds pretty much like yours. Except whole turkey and cranberries. And if a big gathering also ham. Now, I want green been casserole. I have garden beans in freezer and mushrooms. Hmmm I made a whole turkey just for the two of us on our Thanksgiving.

I don't know about thanksgiving, but from what I see on tv, they often cook roast turkey and mashed potato. So I thought it's a must.
