Do you think that masks help us to avoid the virus?

I recently found out that over 50% of masks from our country are useless. They don't offer any kind of protection. My mom works with children who have covid. If she will not bring the virus home it will be a miracle. Most of her collagues have the virus. I am sure that masks don't protect us.We need more than masks.

They say that only some masks help us. I changed my settings. Now you can send me a message. At least I hope so. I had some settings that allowed only followers to message me. I am sorry because I forgot this.

People have introduced this weird stuff called facesheild but its just has useless. I hope your mom is all right. Why is she risking herself being with people who have the virus ? IS she doctor/nurse ?

The masks shield the nostrils from inhaling the virus and prevents the wearers from spreading the virus via speaking or coughing or sneezing. The masks should have filters but if there's none, still wear the mask because it lessens the spread. In our country, we even use face shields.

It probably depends on what kind of mask you use. If masks really worked wouldn't that mean that we wouldn't have so many people getting covid and even dying from it? It can't be that all these positive cases and even deaths are those people that don't wear masks. But I think N95 masks are the good ones that are supposed to work.

We're 9 months into mandatory mask wearing here in NC. Way back in March when it began the reason giving to wearing them was to "flatten the curve". 9 months later our cases are still rising. So do I think masks work, absolutely not.

I think it depends on the mask, and how you use it. Use face shield fora double protection like @eileenleyva said if you doubt the mask.

In addition to wearing mask she should also be wearing the face shield if she is working with Covid patients. And one should ensure we don't touch the mask with out hands else the virus could be transferred from our hands to the mask.

I'm not sure they really do but I wear one. If it doesn't help I've lost nothing and if it does then I'll be happy that I wear one.

Mask are not a 100% they have stated this time and time again. But it does help reduced the amount of droplets in the air that you do come in contact with. So it’s important to wear mask when your in close contest including children if they are old enough to wear them keep washing hands and slicks distancing. When feeling sick those I’ll should stay home and res till symptoms are gone or you have seen a doctor for treatment.

it depend on the mask you use. it depends if you reuse the disposable mask. it depends if you don't wash and sanitize the washable mask. here we wear it because it's required, plus the face shield in public transportation and enclosed places. but even if it's not, i would still wear one and minimize my risk. i hope your mother stays safe. are her co-workers who have the virus still working or have isolated themselves?

I think anything covering the mouth and nose will give some protection from the virus. Studies say wering masks does help you not spread it but doesn't help you not catch it. I doubt that as anything covering the mouth and nose will surely do something to protect you.
