Do people ask payment for a zoom meeting?

Philippines
December 4, 2020 8:32pm CST
Mom's going to have a meeting this afternoon. I don't know if it's going to resume. But I was shocked to hear that some demanded payment for this zoom meeting. Is this person the host? is she crazy? It could be for her limited internet connection. Maybe Mom should host the meeting since we got fast internet, sadly she's not their coordination. I just told her not to attend that meeting, it's absurd.

Zoom I think is a paid application for commercial use. Private users may not be required to pay. I have this application on my desktop but used it only for government sponsored webinars.

We've never had to pay for a Zoom meeting and I attend at least one every week. I suppose come businesses might charge for workshops on Zoom, and I've never attended that kind of meeting on Zoom.

When invited for a meeting, one should not pay. Unless otherwise, we are going to host a meeting and we need to pay subscription fee.

So far as I know I have never been asked to pay for a zoom meeting. I do know the host generally pays for it. But to ask anyone attending to pony up seems wrong to me.
