Quick update....I'm sick....for the 5th damn time!!!!

Hey everyone, hope you're all well. Just trying to give a quick update then going to bed. I started Prac again on Monday 30th November. I had an assessment on Wednesday and got positive feedback from my teacher which was good. This time around has been more full on hence my lack of activity on here. Anyway, on that Wednesday, my teacher and I were talking about how I haven't been sick as every other time I have been sick when doing Prac but normally it was sick one day or two days into the week. So my teacher and I were feeling happy that I wasn't getting sick this time. But on Thursday I woke up with a sore throat. Honestly, I felt sh*tty. Not just in a sick way but in a "I'm sick of getting sick" way. I still went to Prac, pushed through the day but during that night I was sneezing and runny nose. Made me even more irritated to the point I'm questioning this career. ( will still finish the course though ) So I couldn't make it there on Friday as I was feeling so sick. On Saturday I went to the Respiratory Clinic ( again ), had a COVID test ( again ). By the way, I'm never worried about having COVID. I know this is all from the children. Test was negative. I'm not 100% but going to Prac tomorrow as I literally have one more day to do and I'm done for this Prac block. This is my 5th time getting sick during Prac and honestly, not trying to sound negative, I know this can happen but it's really really really really p*ssing me off. I'm sick of being sick. And it can last for such a long time! My teacher has also told me her concerns as I seem to be the only one out of many who not only gets sick this fast, but having viruses that overlap each other. Anyway, Prac has been going well work wise but has also been overwhelming. I don't wish to vent about it all now but I'm just starting to have the thoughts of "Maybe I could do this instead" entering my mind. Thank you for reading, wishing you ALL the very best and will come back on when I have more time.

That would be so frustrating and so depressing too. No-one enjoys being sick all the time, even with good spells in between. I wonder if you could build up your immunity somehow with some supplements perhaps? Meanwhile, take good care of yourself.

@JudyEv You're very right about everything you said. I am taking Immunity Tablets. Those Swisse ones. But I plan to go see my doctor once I'm better to check my Immunity or whatever they can do to check me out. Thank you very kindly.

@marlina I am better thank you but still dealing with a runny nose and coughing fits. Unfortunately the coughing will linger for quite some time. I have my last day of Prac tomorrow so hoping I won't grab anything else while I'm there while my immune system is already down.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh my goodness, I really hope NOT, I wish you to spend the Christmas holidays in good health and to relax. Do not let children come too close to you, your health is now more important. Once you will boost your immune system you will have time to do that.

@LadyDuck Thank you very kindly. I have a bad feeling that when I finish my last day of Prac tomorrow, that I will catch something else. It may not happen. I intend to try not get so close to the children such as not sitting down with them during mat time or letting any children sit on my lap. Which is upsetting as I know some like to do that but I really don't wish to get anything else right now (or ever really) but especially not during my holidays coming up. Only one day left but my immune is already down anyway so I'm a bit worried.

@LadyDuck I worked my last shift on Monday. And I did get a little bit worse. I can only assume it's due to what I said previously with my immune system already being down. I was feeling a bit better on the weekend but after that Monday back at the childcare, I have been going a bit backwards with coughing a lot again with some vomiting. ( sorry if too much info ). So yeah not feeling so great BUT I am now on holidays! I will be doing a post or two later on about today. We had a little Christmas party and did Secret Santa. I'm so happy to have some time off.

@DocAndersen They really are but at the moment I try to avoid those hugs. I adore the hugs but I fear them getting too close to me will spread their germs. The hugs some of the children like to give me are when I'm sitting down and they get right close to my face. It's a tough one at the moment.

@Nakitakona It means like actually working in a Childcare Centre. Doing "Prac" as in actually doing it. Practical.

If your work involves being around kids it is likely you will be sick the entire first year you do it. It is disheartening.

@GardenGerty I agree with you. I knew it was likely for me to get sick as it's a new environment for me. Just didn't know it would be like this getting sick this much. My teacher is concerned and now I am too. Hopefully it will get better as I go.

So sorry to hear this news. I think it’s best you consult a doctor that may help you diagnose what triggers that affects your immune system to ho down. I am just happy that you’re able to dodge the Covid virus once again but just is unfortunate that other virus has gotten to you. Do not wish that the COVID-19 gets into you since it’s a different game to deal with.

@VivaLaDani13 Thank you! I am hoping that you can finally figure out what that issue you have on you soon and maybe find ways to outgrow them or finally avoid what really triggers you to have such.

@rsa101 You're such a sweet person, thank you kindly and I agree with you. I actually do plan to go see my doctor once I am better to get some tests done to see if there is anything that could be causing my immunity to be quite bad. I know what you mean. I was actually talking to my dad about you not long after I learned you had COVID, and I will say it again because I genuinely mean it, I'm so glad you beat it.

Maybe, some immunity booster can help. During this pandemic many have resorted to this approach with traditional preventive care at play too.

@Shiva49 I am taking some Immunity Tablets now. But I still plan on going to see my doctor to get some tests done to see if there is anything going on with me that needs to be addressed.

It's no fun getting sick again and again. I am sorry you are going through all this. Take care and get well soon. When I started working with younger children I fell sick a few times in a year but then my immunity developed.

@arunima25 That is true. I have heard the same thing from people on here who work in childcare as well as the educators I've been around in person at the childcare centres. Thank you so very much. I am doing alright.

@VivaLaDani13 I have seen it with many who work with young children. We fall sick frequently in the beginning and then get immune. I hope you are feeling better now.
