A Big NO to Five-Second Rule of Food...Yikes!?!

I am sure you are aware of this simple rule. Honestly, I am not that kid in following the five-second rule of food. For the reason that my parents strictly say that it is dirty. To explain further, it is a situation wherein the food fell down on the ground and the person will still eat it if being picked up within five seconds. Some people claimed that it is still clean to eat. Have you ever tried to do this before? What's your opinion about it? Image Credit: s01.sgp1.digitaloceanspaces.com

As long as it has touched the ground it becomes dirty. Even if it takes 1second

It is indeed that we need to educate other people about it. @kay990 @LadyDuck

Once the food touch the floor, the germs get to it. Of course it would be dirty. But you know with some folks, just blow it and it will be fine. Mom included

@Shavkat I can't use that on Mom. Since she grew up not in luxury, she would treasure every tiny bit of food. She will be angry if I waste food.

I had seen some moms do this. I cannot understand why they still do this. It is not a good habit due to this virus anymore.

Of course, I'd eat a donut that fell on the floor. After all, the floor is clean. Food is food. I don't wanna waste good food all because the food slipped through my butterfingers.

I never heard of that rule and the rule is not to eat food that fall on the ground. Try to drop food in the mud and check after 1 second if it's clean... this proves how silly this theory is.

I tried my best to find where it originates. It questions the sanitary concern.

@Shavkat In fact I read that it comes from Genghis Kan in the times “people had little basic knowledge of microorganisms and their relationship to human illness....", do not forget that during the Middle Age that thought that "washing our body" was dangerous for our health!

I wondered where this rule came from. I remembered some of my childhood friends do this. My common facial expressions are signs of dismayed.

I cannot blame you for this. I had seen some people do this unintentionally or not. With this pandemic, we need to consider not to do it.
