The results of the US 2020 election become official January 6th

On December 14th the electors actually cast their votes for president/vice-president of the United States. The media will be quick to declare the winner but it is on January 6th that it actually becomes official. That's when congress meets to certify the electoral votes. According to the US constitution Vice-President Mike Pence is the one tasked with tallying the results and declaring the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
During the certification of the electoral votes, members of Congress can challenge the results. It may very well happen that results will be challenged in states where voter fraud took place and where lots of illegal votes were made and counted to give Biden the supposed victory. States like Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin... And the outcome may be in Trump's favor... We shall wait and see...
I am not sure if anything else can be contested/challenged after that but if it so happens that Biden will be our 46th president it will not be because he won fair and square as many claim to be true and he will not keep America great.

This is where we will agree to disagree. I don't believe there was any voter fraud, regardless of how many people believe it.

@lovebuglena Maybe there were some votes cast in error, but that is absolutely no proof that ALL votes cast by mail were suspicious. This is simply false logic.
What I don't understand is why Trump and Co cannot believe they lost, despite the fact that all the opinion polls prior to the election pointed to a Biden win. Actually the margin of victory was smaller than predicted. Surely, any orchestrated attempt to fix the vote would have resulted in MORE votes going to Biden than were expected, and not FEWER?

@lovebuglena I don’t want to discuss this topic with you anymore. You and they are all wrong.

I, along with a huge number of Americans, believe there was voter fraud. We can't be all wrong.

As far as I am concerned, the election is over. As much as I would've liked Trump to win, I believe Biden may already have. It's doubtful the election would've been contested at all if Trump won last month.

It is not doubtful at ALL that the election would have been HUGELY contested by the democrats if Trump had won @kaylachan. I am surprised so many people seem to be entirely oblivious of what went on for the last four years with the democrats.

@porwest It's not a shock. They are very good at being sneaky. Keep all attention on trump, and who's going to pay attention to them?

@lovebuglena Okday, read it here now, not only Putin but also Bolsonaro.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro have all congratulated Joe Biden on his victory in the US presidential election -- six weeks after the vote and after the Electoral College

@LadyDuck I saw that Putin congratulated Biden... Did not hear about the others yet. I do not read or follow CNN though.

The world will breathe a huge sigh of relief that Trump will soon be gone. We simply could not afford another four years of inaction on the climate change front, and there is every prospect now of real action coming from a Biden government.
The folly of electing someone to the Presidency with absolutely no experience of elected office has become crystal clear to anyone who cares to consider the facts. Politics is a profession, with skills that have to be ;learned over many years. You simply cannot expect good results from a complete novice.

I have not heard of Biden until recently but from what I hear or read Biden has been in this game for 47 years and has accomplished nothing.

I hope Biden doesn't overturn everything that Trump did in his 4 years in office if we are to have him for the next four years.

There is a TON to question about this election. The mail in ballots I think are the key to this entire thing, personally. BUT, I think the outcome will be that Biden will be declared the winner and the only recourse following that is what personal legal battles Trump is willing to take on as well as any PACs or other groups that may want to fund any ongoing legal battles.
Either way, the country is doomed because we have elected a president incapable of running the country, who will likely die very soon, and then we will have Harris and who knows who will be VP then. In the meantime who will be running the country will be any number of people we did not elect.

But people in Congress can still challenge the results, so there is still hope... And what happens with the lawsuits that Powell filed? Do they have any effect on this election in terms of who becomes president?

@porwest There is going to be a huge rally in DC on January 6th. Hubby wants to go. I might attend as well. Not sure what that will do though. It won't change the outcome of the election.

@lovebuglena Challenges CAN be made, of course. But it is doubtful those challenges will be made. As for any lawsuits, these will have to be ongoing while the regular course happens as it does. I know a lot of people think that somehow Trump will still be president despite all that has happened. But I don't think it is likely.
Certainly I am one who would like to see Trump remain. But I just don't see it.

Oh Lena it is such a mess.
All I see is hostility from people who are still not satisfied and have vengeance in their hearts..what a disgrace it is. And this Biden won't accomplish anything period. The haters have such hate for Trump that they are blinded by their quest to get rid of him and are holding Biden up as some sort of god. He is useless as the day is long

@lovebuglena Yes it is all engineered as far as I can tell and that is what they thrive on is division among people,, families, races, and so on world wide. Very sad.

This country has been divided long before Trump ran for office and became president. But I think this election divided people even more... And you tell people about something that actually happened and they fail to believe it actually did. They think that you are wrong and they are right. SMH.

It's hard to believe what's been happening with this election...
I heard that friendships and even relationships came to an end because of this election. Families not speaking to each other...
People can disagree about this election but that shouldn't result in something like this. People have to respect other people's views/opinions, even if they don't agree with them. I don't think that this election, or politics in general, should be a reason to ruin friendships and relationships.

I know you're Trump follower. But it's time to give way to the winner and be supportive of Biden.

Why should I be supportive of Biden? I do not want him as my president. Nor is he gonna keep this country great. Plus, when Trump won the Democrats and people gave him hell for 4 years. They still do. Why should Biden be treated any differently?
