Male Cardinal in Backyard Pines

Was bird watching as I always do today. It seems the colder it gets, the more backyard birds I see. Walked out on the deck for a few minutes, all bundled up, and saw a pair of cardinals. The female flew when I opened the door. But the male stayed perched in the pine tree. Managed to get a photo of this gorgeous bird. A favorite of my Dad's. I think he had something to do with this visit. I always feel a presence when I see these cardinals no doubt. Perhaps my Dad was wishing me a Merry Christmas.

Your Dad was saying, 'See, Carol? I haven't left you and here's a beautiful reminder!'

@CarolDM I really missed Mom&Dad, while sitting in my car by Lake Huron. Two sea gulls landed next to my vehicle, staring up at me. I shared food with these birds, it was like Mom & Dad were right there. I felt a lot better!

That is my favorite bird also. They are quite comical to watch, especially the males. You're very lucky to have had a special message from your Dad.

I believe it was indeed from my Dad. He landed on the deck and peeked into the window where I am siting. I said, well hello Daddy.

@CarolDM I love it when things like that occur. And I totally believe in them. I raised my eyes earlier and asked our darling Brittany to go and spend the day with her big brother tomorrow-just so that he's got some blood relatives with him on Christmas day.

That is a great shot. I seen one on the fence a couple of days ago. But it took off too fast

That is a very beautiful bird. We don't have an all-red bird but we have all-blue ones. I think you're right about your Dad visiting you.

My absolute favorite bird. I just love cardinals, and especially the males. Every time I hear their song I look for them. They never cease to impress me. Not sure why I don't have a feeder to attract them because I think that would be cool. Cool to have a nice memory surrounding them as well.

@CarolDM I did not know they love peanuts. But they are truly remarkable birds. I have always been fascinated by them.
