I can post using no mouse. When I first got my HP laptop, I was heartbroken to realize I'd mistakenly bought a laptop that didn't have a touch screen. After several years of having a touch screen, I'd come to rely on it. However, after playing around with my Asus (the dying laptop with the touch screen) I learned one very important thing.... as long as I move the mous pointer away from the browser, I can load the menus on mylot with keyboard commands. Yay! Still wish I had the backlit keys.... but I can earn still Yay!

@rebelann Hey, whatever works. I am just happy I found a way to make my laptop work. I almost felt like I wasted money. Now, I don't have to feel that way.

That's why I disable the touchpad. It has its place, sure, but being able to move the pointer out of the way, is wonderful. I also know people who like the portibility of a laptop, and the ease of a mouse. That's why you can get either a USB mouse, or a bluetooth mouse.

My husband gifted me a chromebook to use for mylotting and my other writing side jobs. It is my first laptop/tablet hybrid that has a touch screen and I am trying to get used to it. So I guess our situations are reversed on this one, we're both trying to learn new-to-us technology.

Because I use a screen reader, I have avoided chromebooks. However, at least you're getting used to a touchscreen.

I am glad you can use the screen. This laptop has a touch screen but I generally use the built in mouse that came with it.

I would be lost without my mouse. I tried going without, but I hated it so I plugged in the little guy and I'm happy again!

Oh, I had no problem getting online. Being able to disable the mouse to post, was the problem. I'm always hitting the touch pad and being blind, not knowing if it's moving the pointer is a real pain. I perfer to disable the mouse and use either the touch screen (which this laptop doesn't have) or the keyboard. It's useless to me if I can't rely on one or the other. So, I made it work.

I can’t understand how one can use a touchscreen on a laptop. Does it come off to be used like a tablet? Pardon my ignorance. I am technically challenged to begin with.

@DianneN Not a problem. I tend to use it in desktop mode, but tablet mode is an option. I'm actually grateful for both.

Really? I've had the one I'm typing on for almost ten years. Short of some hardware issues, it's just as good as the day I bought it.

The quality I think goes down, as companies scramble to make machines thinner. Also refurbished or open box units tend to be cheaper for a reason.@FayeHazel

Laptop needs no mouse. There's a built-in key which could be operated using a finger.
