I didn't mean to!

This morning I had a doctor's appointment with my pain management doctor. I ate breakfast, made the 25 minute drive, and waited with the other socially distanced patients. All of a sudden I got dizzy. They called my name, and I stood up. Apparently, that's when I passed out. They said I was out for two minutes. I just remember coming to on the floor. They took my blood pressure and it was 80 over 46, which is apparently pretty low. Long story short they told me I had no choice but to go to the hospital by ambulance because they wouldn't let me drive. I felt better in the ambulance, but they had me go through tests, including an EKG.
I was fine, which I thought I would be. I was told these things happen sometimes. I certainly took a shower to get any "floor" off me.

I am glad you are okay and yes, the shower was a great idea. Al my hubs has had this problem and usually, it is because he is dehydrated. I make him eat and drink before taking any medication. Though sometimes just getting up too fast can do it.

@AmbiePam And I have slightly elevated blood pressure. I take medication for it.
I feel so low. At my last doctor's appointment in November he told me that he would fax over 3 months worth of refills to my pharmacy. I called this morning as I have 1 b/p pill left, and they told me that they have not received that fax and to give it the day and call late this afternoon, I just called and they have not received it so they will fax him now and I need to call back tonight (before they close at 9pm) and if he doesn't fax one in they will refill me with 1 month's worth. I feel like I am bothersome calling them twice today and will need to call again.

Thanks, Anna. I'm doing well. This happened a couple of years ago at a restaurant, and they took me to the hospital then too. Just like this time they did an EKG, some blood work, and said I was fine. My main doctor then sent me to a cardiologist, and she cleared me as well. I'd like to know how I can keep this from happening again.

when they said "these things happen" do they mean it can happen with any reason?

Wow, scary and annoying both at the same time. Do you suppose it was caused by pain? Or anxiety? Yeah, I would definitely want the floor ick off of me.

That is way too low. I think you should run your skydiving plan by the docs. That doesn't sound like a great idea for you to me. So, I guess that let you go home I think you should..Keep some salty snacks around and montior your BP. Fainting is certainly not normal. It must have been scary.

Low blood pressure can cause fainting especially when getting up from sitting! Happens a lot! I always carried some hard candy just in case.
Glad you are okay!

Yikes! I'm glad that you're OK now. I can pass out if I get up too fast after sitting down. Stay safe and healthy.
