"Do you AIR your room?"

In my house, my family and I air our rooms every morning. It is good to let fresh air come and feel the oxygen into our system. I am posting this discussion because I noticed that our pastor's neighbor never does this. I find it weird since his dogs need air, too. How about the pungent smell of his dogs? Lately, his dogs are not taking a bath. He just let them stay outside the house and hose them down without using the dog's shampoo or soap. How many times do you take your pet a bath? Do you let the fresh air comes into your house? Image Credit: annecohenwrites.com

I air the rooms every morning, I move to another room while I air one, because here it's very cold.I know that cats should not be bathed, my niece brought her dog to be bathed once a month.

In February, I will do the same thing. It is the coldest month in my city. We air the rooms one at a time. I am starting to be annoyed with this pastor. His dogs are creating foul odors now.

@LadyDuck It is a good thing that we don't have snow here. I must admit that winter is not for me.

That's what I want to know, too. Since the dogs are staying outside his house, the pungent smell is too strong.

@rakski That's a good practice. Perhaps we can teach him to do this.

We air out the house everyday (if weather permits, which it usually does). The fresh air can keep the house cool or warm too. Luckily we only have parakeets - they bathe themselves .

I guess it is fewer responsibilities to take good care of parakeets. I love the feeling of going out and feel the cold breeze, which is fresh air. An advantage of living on the mountain.

@Shavkat Ohh, you get that fresh mountain air (I didn't realize you lived on a mountain!). I love the morning air while it's still cool and crisp.

With our cats, airing out the house isn't always easy. We have screens, but the cats could rip right through them if we're not watching them. When I freebreeze the bed, I'll open the window (no cats allowed because I don't want them breathing in the spray), so the bedroom gets aired out then. We'll open doors and such occasionally when we have the cats locked up in the bedrooms.

I think you can handle them well. I wish I can have a cat or two in the future. They are good at cleaning themselves as compared to dogs. That's the reason why I sometimes feel annoyed because the pastor's dogs are starting to smell here.

Whenever the weather is nice enough, we open the windows and let some fresh air in to circulate around the house. We do have house plants so it helps them too. While we have an industrial air purifier, fresh air is still different.

@Shavkat It helps with the air quality a lot especially if we have the heater/furnace going in the winter. My husband and I both have allergies to dust, among other things.

@Raine38 I cannot tolerate dust, too. It will trigger my rhinitis.

Speaking of air purifier machine, I am planning to have one before the coldest month of my city. It will be in February. I do agree that plants inside the house are a good source of having oxygen and absorb CO2.

I have to clean up the cat bathroom problem every day. A good spray of odor killers gets rid of the bad smell from my nephew's room.

When I still have my Shadow cat, I usually clean the bathroom and ant-bacterial spray with scent. I hope this pastor that I am referring to will bathe his dogs. They are starting to pollute our air in the neighborhood.

@Shavkat I know what you mean since when I lived near the Panama Canal during low tide, a foul odor would come out of the canal water.

My cats never bathe, they can roll on the porch enjoying the air and sunshine.

I think cats do not need to take a bath because it will rain. That's what the elders say. Cats know how to clean themselves up as compared to doggies.

Never heard of this, no! Lol. I do deodorize it with a room spray or light a candle every once in a while.

Basically, we just open the windows and let fresh air go inside the house. I also like spraying the rooms with scented ones.

I open the windows every morning. We have good air circulation without opening the windows but I still prefer to open them.

It is better to open the windows despite having a well-ventilated home. I agree with you.

@Shavkat If it's shut up and there are dogs inside, then it is bound to smell.

I do. But the weather has to be just right. I will admit when I can open the windows and let the fresh air flow it is the best ever. But there are times during the winter and the summer when I just can't do that. In the winter it is especially frustrating since at least during the summer I can get fresh air by being outside, but in the winter all I want to do is avoid the cold.
