Why spirituality divorces fun?

I love the calm tone of some of the spiritual leaders. It exudes some feeling worth dying for. I am not speaking of those scripture explainers - they give their interpretations of texts and often get rattled when they have to explain something they had not thought about. But there are those who tell you how to become calm, and overcome whatever are your day to day trials and tribulations. So lately I have been listening to this lady, BK Shivani (Brahma Kumari Shivani). While I like what she is saying and am trying without more than 20 percent success to follow her system, I am kinda unable to decide whether I need to leave other aspects of my life. Like having fun on issues like ..well, earning, farting, etc. So do you think spiritual leaders would or should refrain from talking about such things or making monies? And do such things distance us from the almighty? God is love, accepted. God is boring? Blink...God is narrow minded? Weird. God abhors achievement...he needs help. Me thinks ..dignified and charitable stuff at times makes god a temporary friend. Our definition of spirituality gotta change if we want him with us non stop.

I do not follow those so pretended spiritual leaders, they only try to make money, not different from politicians.

This one is different. She is not asking for anything. We also do not have to attend her functions. She has her views uploaded on YouTube. Basically, not her views. Brahma Kumaris are known for meditation teaching. But she is able to express those views in crystal clear manner. So I am quite impressed. Just that I wrote something about farting today. And then it struck me, may be I am crossing the line. Then I wondered, why and how. Naturally, it seemed spiritual being is seen as somebody void of humor. Then I asked, does god expect us to be like that?

@LadyDuck You gotta be kidding. He loves us - he hasn't created anything crazy like us. That is why he wants more and more of us to see how crazy we can be. Evil Grin. I think he likes our fart jokes.

@vandana7 I have no idea how God expect us to be and I think that he must be pretty much disgusted by most humans. I often wonder if he would create men should he start over.

She does. But I doubt if she would not frown if she heard me talking about fart.

That I realized. Many people do not. It is not one community. It is all communities. I think those who are religious book related spiritual leaders are genuinely bad. Others can be tried tested and rejected based on what we know and have experienced. This lady, I have not been able to reject so far. Its almost a week.

I think "spiritual people" who earn money from talking about spiritual stuff aren't spiritual people. I think they are JUST in it to earn money. If this person is using YouTube, then she is earning money from her videos. I'm sorry, vanny. I think that God made us the way we are. That means the good parts of us and the bad parts of us. If he didn't make us that way, then we wouldn't act that way. I can't imagine God would condemn you for having fun. If he does condemn us for having fun, then he isn't someone I am interested in knowing.

Who is interested in god? He is an very very old man. Possibly drooling and farting. I am interested in getting things out of him. He can do a lot you know.

@vandana7 A lot of people are interested in the concept of God but aren't interested in knowing him. Uhm... you have a direct line to him? Does he talk to you? I know many people claim to talk to God and some claim he answers them... but they can't prove that. I think, if there was a God, then he has forgotten the people on this planet. Maybe he made people on another planet that he likes better.

I agree. But this lady makes sense to me. Moreover, she is on YouTube. I don't think she is monetizing, and even if, it may be for traveling and spreading the word. I am fine with that. I am not being duped.

I do listen to them. Kinda, who knows they might enlighten me. But I never go to their conferences or meets. Just on YouTube or TV. That way they are not able to fleece me. LOL. Nevertheless, at the first sign of inconsistency, I am able to dump the person like a hot potato. This lady has so far kept me on track. Rather unusual. I find me erring a lot. I guess that is the cause for my misery.

@vandana7 that's great. Some people become fanatic when they like someone. And fanatic means blind.
