My Christmas card arrives at last

Today, when we picked up the mail from our Post Office box, I received a Christmas card from myLotter Valerie Routhieaux (@just4him). Isn’t it lovely? I know Valerie posted it well before Christmas but our postal service is very bad at the moment. They have cut down services and mail takes much longer than it did to arrive. I’m thrilled to receive it and have messaged Valerie to say a special thank you for her kindness.

on average right now the USPS (postal service) says a 2 to 4 week delay on most overseas mail.

@JudyEv i work for a company on the weekends on occasion. They send me a check on 12/19, i still don't have it and that is domestic US mail!

@JudyEv Oh those are not Shepherds Judy, those are the Three Wise Magi Kings: Balthasar, Melchior, and Gaspar, bringing to Jesus gold, frankincense and myrrh. We catholic celebrates the event on January 6th.

@LadyDuck Sorry. That was a stupid mistake of mine. I knew that. I must have been really tired to make such a silly mistake. Vince is/was Catholic and I tagged along for years so I know nearly as much about the faith as he does.

Yes, that's true. The card is lovely. The three shepherds stand out from the rest of the card.

Oh, that's a shame. I know many of my friends didn't send cards this year. It all got too hard.

@Shavkat Some people would be very stressed at the moment I'm sure. Christmas cards were probably the last thing on their minds.

Its a very nice card. Our postal service is over-worked currently also, and things are slow to arrive, especially when you are waiting on something.

@JudyEv They are working shorter staffed as well plus they have a ton more deliveries due to covid.

I'm so happy it finally arrived. It shouldn't take two months for the mail, but that's what it was with mail going to the southern hemisphere. I'm still waiting on one other card to arrive.

It's awful at the moment. They used to deliver mail in the towns every day. Now it's about twice a week.

Well at least you are in Australia. A Christmas card (which had a gift card in it) just arrived at it's destination. It was sent on Dec. 18!

what a lovely surprise! i jest received a handmade Christmas card from a friend'n spain this past saturday. 'twas mailed mid november. not fer sure where such'd been hangin' out? the envelope 'twas a disaster, but thankfully the card 'twas'n pristine condition. the beauty'n sentiment needed more now that durin' the holiday 'tself.

It took more than 3 weeks for cards to arrive in the States that I sent on December 9!!!! That was nice of Valerie to send you a card.

@JudyEv Yes, it is. I paid an electric bill late because the mail was so slow! We didn't receive the bill until the day it was due. :-(
