Lunches Have Become a Big Problem In Our House

We have a vegetarian in the house who relies on Marmite for all of his lunches. Well, the day came a few weeks ago when we finally ran out. We have always had a lot of jars on hand because of how much we use the stuff. Personally, I can't stand the taste, but the kids were eating it as soon as they were old enough thanks to their father!! I do wonder about their lack of taste buds, but I guess they inherited more from their dad than they did from me when it comes to food preferences. They both love Brussel Sprouts too and I don't like those either!! Anyway, we have looked everywhere for Marmite, and it still hasn't hit the shelves. I'm starting to wonder if not enough Canadians are eating it for the stores to bother ordering it. Honestly, if we could book a holiday to England just to replenish our supply, I think that we probably would. Sadly, that is not the case. So, anyone out there in the same boat as we are?? I have even looked online for Marmite recipes. I should have know that I wouldn't find any. I know that the Australians came up with their own version... I wonder why we didn't??

LOL... here in Canada it was under $5.00 a jar. They are making a killing on the fact that we can't get it in the stores here.

I don't know if or where it is available in the US. I do know that people say it tastes horrible! I hope you can find some. Did you try Amazon? Good luck!

Living in America, I have never seen marmite. I always heard it was an acquired taste.

It's quite common here but I guess it is soooo back ordered, that it will take ages to stock our shelves.

My boys had Vegemite sandwiches for lunch throughout their school years. Every time I gave them something different, they'd ask for Vegemite again.

Marmite is awful, or Vegimite as I think it's called. I must admit that I haven't noticed if it is on the shelves here or not.

That's the stuff alright. I think that you have to start eating it as a baby or you never will develop a taste for it!
