First step to orange perfection!

Following on from my post the other day, I have overcome the first hurdle on the way to marmalade 2021!
After looking at supermarkets online for Seville oranges and not being able to find anything, I tried our nearest greengrocer. Even though they said they were unavailable when I looked on their website, I called anyway just in case and they had some in stock! Hurrah!
The snag was that they currently close at 3pm to accommodate the increased number of home deliveries they have to do nowadays, so I knew I wouldn’t get there in time that day - I would have to go the next morning, and the forecast predicted heavy rain.
Lucky for me it turned out to be wrong, so I cycled in to town and stocked up on oranges (and a few other interesting fruits and vegetables too). So I was able to support a local business and get all my ingredients plus I got a pleasant outing and some exercise (7.5 miles on the bike - 12 km) into the bargain.

Marmalade is one of those things we never seem to have in the house but I always love having it on toast whenever we stay in a hotel.
Perhaps I should add it to the shopping list. Or maybe get Mrs. WorDazza to make some as she has a lot of time on her hands.

That is impressive.
And glad to hear that your cycle ride was not interrupted and somewhat marred by over zealous Police Officers who may have called into question if your journey was.essential.

@JimBo452020 It has always had that effect on me unfortunately. Doesn't matter all that much ordinarily but on camping trips it's a real bummer. You really want to enjoy a few drinks in the evening sitting by the campfire and enjoying the sunset - but you know that if you do, you're going to have to struggle out of your sleeping bag in the middle of the night and traipse across a cold, wet field in your pyjamas and wellies.

I have mixed feelings about shopping there. They are a bit more expensive but I think that's down to their city centre location. They have everything arranged in a display and you have to ask for what you want and they weigh it out for you. If you want a lot of different things you almost feel guilty making them trot back and forth! They do have some more unusual things though. And it's nice to support a local business.

I should have added that since they are in the town centre it isn't so easy getting there, strange as that sounds. I can cycle (takes about 20 minutes) and I have two baskets to carry what I buy. That can be a bit of a limitation if I have also bought other things on my trip to town.
I can get the bus but that means waiting around (which I don't like) and adds £3.80 to the cost, so not worth it unless I have to go into town by bus for some other reason anyway.
I can drive, but then it takes ages to find a parking place, parking costs a minimum of £3.00 for 1 hour and then I have to carry the bags about half a mile and walking to and from the car would use up at least 20 minutes of my one hour parking time! So again, would only do this if I was doing it anyway for some other reason.
The nearest supermarket is the same distance away, but plenty of free parking so if we need a big shop it's easier to drive there. Or I can also cycle there of course and get my two baskets-full.
There are are other shops nearer, but smaller ones. For example our local shop is just half a mile but has a limited range of fresh fruit - apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, lemons - so if you want anything else you have to go elsewhere.

@JudyEv it's a struggle to get her eat vegetables. She likes carrots, sweetcorn, edamame beans and globe artichokes. Cucumber or raw red or yellow peppers. That's about it. Peas only if they are fresh from the pod. So stripey red carrots are a refreshing change!
