What should've been in the can wasn't there

I love sweet canned peas. I love the Le Sueur brand but I rarely get it because one can costs $1.99. Depending on where you buy it, it can be even higher. Sometimes I get lucky and find it on sale. Recently, that's what happened. The price was 2 cans for $3. That's pretty good so I got 4 cans. Two were just the very young small sweet peas but the other two also had pearl onions and mushrooms inside. A few days ago I decided to have a sweet peas omelet and opened up the can that had the pearl onions and mushrooms, except that there were no pearl onions or mushrooms inside the can. And the liquid didn't taste like it usually does. That never happened to me before. I wonder if the other can will have pearl onions and mushrooms in it.

This is weird, if in doubt bring back the product for a refund.

I can't bring it back for a refund. The can was already open. Plus, I threw the can out.

@lovebuglena We can bring back an opened can if the content does not correspond to the label, if it has a weird smell, or if we judge that there is something wrong... how can we know before opening?

@LadyDuck But also the store has no control over what's inside the can. How can they be responsible? If something is wrong with the product that's the fault of the manufacturer not the store.

Misgivings, loopholes and anything to our disadvantage does happen and that's life. We have to accept it but if we could perfect it, why not.

That sounds really weird. I would call the company. They will send you coupons for free cans.

I can maybe do that but I threw the can out already. And the supermarket receipt as well.

Clearly somebody goofed. I'd send a letter to the manufacturer. They will probably send you some coupons for some free cans.

I should see if there is a way to contact them. Though I no longer have the can. It probably has some id number to identify the batch.

@porwest There was one time where I bought a small glass jar of capers from Lidl and there was a huge shard of glass in the jar. I had discovered it only after I had already ate some capers. I wrote them and they gave me I think it was a $25 gift card. I could've hurt myself and that's all I got? That wasn't fair. But what I got was better than nothing.

@lovebuglena Yeah. You MIGHT need some information from the can. But there might be some information on the website. Most companies don't want to risk losing the business and so they usually just say sorry and send coupons.

Maybe it's a defect. That can happen too.

Maybe they put the wrong label on the can. Like maybe it was supposed to be just the sweet peas but they put the label for the peas with pearl onions and mushrooms.
