My husband's doctor advised him to apply hot compress on the affected area since his boil caused swelling around the area. I have never tried cold or hot compress. But when he tried cold compress, it just aggravated the pain. What about in your case, which one works for you?

hoy compress on boils. it can shorten the process so it will help the boil to open and drain

oh i also noticed that. You are right that it expedites the draining out of the pus.

I think cold would be better. Heat can aggravate the pain

She was right to suggest hot compress. The heat and moisture can help the boil to open and drain.

I don't often have to apply a compress but mostly it would be a cold one.

What suits me better is the hot compress.

For me that depends. If it is sore, I use hot compress. If it is inflamed or painful I use cold compress.
