I have not paid attention

All year our payroll department has issued warnings that there are false unemployment claims being filed against some of our accounts.
I have read the warnings. I have read the process Patty the paycheck lady has set up for us to follow to report this criminal activity. I have not really let it soak in.
Evidently she recently sent me a specific warning. I just skimmed over it, thinking it was a general warning, a "just in case". Well, I looked at the e mail again because I was deleting e mails from my work e mail, and it looks like it is specific to me.
So I get to report this, and get a police case number.
I will do that immediately after breakfast.
Good morning, myLot land. I am definitely not unemployed, so I will take care of this today.

I reread my job e mails more than once before deleting them.

@GardenGerty I save important emails so that I can go back and, if needed, to prove what I received.

It seems to be really common right now. I think these are amateurs, as everyone seems to know about them.

Evidently there is a lot of this going on, but when the claim is sent to the employer it comes to a stop.

@GardenGerty I kind of wish I had had a job somewhere that laid me off. That 600 a week extra would have been extremely nice.

I know. It has not shown up on any of my other alerts, though, so that is good.

I really do not know. They did not even issue me a case number. Hmmm. At least not yet. It may be a ring of perpetrators, because they have been getting these false claims on lots of people this year.
