We had a brutal wind storm last night!

I awoke several times last night as strong winds shook the trees and sent Kitty's food and water bowls skidding off into the distance. I hear that the winds were up to 70 mph last night up on Mt. Diablo. I'm not sure how they "measured" here, but they were as strong as I've experienced in this house. Happily, we've had rain, and the fire danger is down. I see blue skies this morning with no haze on the horizon.

the last time we had a storm like that (4 years ago) roofing companies in our area became wealthy!

Some medium sized branches are coming down. Maybe I'll invest in windshield repair.

@DocAndersen Yep. Very occasionally (here) a person gets squished inside their car.

I think we're getting that storm right now! I just ran out to the yard to get the 3 plastic crates that tumbled away in one big gust of wind. It actually seemed like a calm night, but here we go .

@TheHorse That's how it feels like here right now. There's weird grayness in the air too - looks odd outside - as if there were fire somewhere nearby.

Last night, it came in sudden gusts. It would be calm for awhile, and then another would hit.

@much2say I hope there's no fire there. It's really clear here today, but the gusts are still happening occasionally.

Had some wind rattling the vinyl siding as I was having my lunch today but nothing's flying around, not even the birds.

@TheHorse Sometimes they do, if the winds are over 43 mph the insurance covers the damages caused by the wind. If less than 43 mph if you have damages it means you are not taking care of your property and garden as you should, you pay.

Those are high winds. I hope Kitty's dishes didn't slide off the balcony and you needed to rescue them from below. I'm glad you're not in danger of fire.

Kitty and I are chilling in my house right now. She's back by the laundry basket, as far away from the winds as she can be.

Wow, those are some big winds. It was supposed to be windy here today, but I didn't think it was that bad, of course I was in the house almost all day so I really don't know. I couldn't hear the wind though...normally if it is very windy you can hear it.
