Need New Reading Glasses

I will have to get new reading glasses when I go to my eye specialist again in March, it is becoming harder and harder to read properly with the ones I got right now. They are bifocal and I hate them, so I will go for simple reading glasses, no more bifocals for me which I got after the cataract surgeries. Do you need new glasses soon?

My hubby is due for an eye exam and new glasses, but he won't go as it is just not safe enough right now. We read about an optical business who had a covid outbreak because they just cannot practice the 2 meter distancing and you have to put your face up to that machine, although that should be sanitized, for your prescription, not to mention trying on the different frames. He will go when he feels it is safe enough or he has had a vaccination.

I had glasses made about 50 years ago and never wore them. After a second pair of glasses, I did better on the computer screen. My next pair was bifocals, I hate 'em! I'm sick of trying to adjust and like you, I'm going to a simple pair of reading glasses.

@marlina Whenever my eyes pass over that dividing line, the vision jumps.

@marlina Yes, but my glasses don't hurt my eyes. I just can't see as clearly with them as I think I should.

It is better to go for progressive glasses than bifocal or just reading glasses. They cost little more but convenient. Your long and short sight vision is in the same glass.

I thought I did but my eyes improved some. The problem I have is in the lights at night. Instead of being points of light they are elongated which I don't like at all. So I'm just watchful when I drive at night.

@marlina I have a pair of glasses that are for seeing far away and then reading glasses. Because I use the computer I cannot make any more changes.

I know how you feel. My eyesight is not good but the doctor says I can wait for the cataract surgery on left eye. The right eye is done already. I also do not want it now due to the virus. I have reading glasses and I use progressive during other times.

Looks like I also need new glasses. At first I wore minus glasses. But I now have trouble reading at close range using my glasses, so I have to take them off first. Maybe I need cylinder glasses.
