Oh, even Stevie Wonder saw this one coming. Tomorrow’s song might be a surprise, but I’m pretty sure that everyone had this pegged for showing up on the list of songs with “heart” in the title. To absolutely no one’s surprise, here’s today’s tune. Your Cheatin’ Heart - Hank Williams Simplistic doesn’t mean simple. Consider this song had measures of four syllables all the way through, and yet has volumes of pain and revenge emanating from those simple syllables. Hank, the story goes, came up with the lyrics while discussing his ex-wife with his new wife while in the car. She wrote the lyrics down for him, and he took it to Nashville and recorded it in September 1952. Little did any of us know that would be his final recording session. This was released as a single in the immediate aftermath of Williams’ death on New Year’s Day 1953.
