A Job That I Never Felt Ashamed Of

I am not born with a silver spoon. During my childhood years, I had seen how my biological parents worked so hard for their children. As the eldest son, I was forced to think as an adult. During my summer vacation, I sometimes join in with sellers of items and offer them from one house to another. For salesmen, they call this 'nesting.' Did I feel ashamed of doing it? I definitely say no. It is how I earned my own money before. What is your first job before? Are you ashamed of having your first job? Image Credit: st2.depositphotos.com

@LadyDuck At first, my parents did not allow me. But then, I explained to them that I want to know how it feels to work and earn some extra cash.

When I was in high school, I did some homework for my classmates and they paid me after. I did the selling during my primary school days.

If I have the chance, I wanted to try farming. In fact, my family and I are planning to have our dream house with a big yard, so that we can do farming of veggies and other things.

If I have the chance, I would want to work as a student assistant during my college years. But it is not possible. I am glad that you had helped her at that time.

I gave tuition to one of my juniors at school. I was 18 that time and I felt proud of it to earn my own pocket money. I even set up food stalls in various functions in our apartment. They were learning experiences.

I can feel you for having our own pocket money. During that time, I was so determined not to ask for some money from my parents, especially when I was so addicted to reading novel books. My younger sister had her experienced by tutoring some kids.

@Shavkat Though my mom could afford me good pocket money, she encouraged me to be independent. We learn a valuable life skill to earn money, respect it and use it judiciously. You should not feel ashamed. You should be proud.

I may say that I am quite a late bloomer when it comes to working in fast food. Before I practiced my profession and graduated from the university, I applied to work in Chinese fast food for a few months. Another reason, I took the time to review the professional license exam at that time.

My younger sister did this and taught a kid during our university days. I do not think that we need to feel ashamed for being one and doing other decent jobs. In the end, she graduated to be an Industrial Engineer. I wondered if the young generations can do these things at present.

I had experienced working as a Supervisor with Electrolux before. I did door to door in helping out my sales agents to offer vacuums, washing marching, and the like. It was a great experience doing sales with target clients in a particular place at that time.

No one should ever be ashamed of a job. We all have to make a living somehow. My first job was when I was 14, working for Dominos, putting circulars on people's doors. I made a whopping $2.50 an hour.

I don't feel ashamed. My first job was as a factory worker. It is time-consuming and physical work. Then after a few years, I quit my job because my health began to suffer and became an entrepreneur.

I don’t like strangers coming to my door selling things. It does happen much here as people really don’t like it and worry about burglary.

If I can only turn back the time, I would prefer to work online. But then, it is best if I can do this as a part-timer. The mere fact, I am teaching online full-time. After this pandemic, I might work in a regular job offline during the daytime and teach online at night.
