Garfield Afloat!

United States

This one is an old article and I think I heard about this before. Apparently everyone's favorite orange cat has been turning up on a beach along Brittany (in France) for years. A container full of the lovable feline was lost on a cargo ship in the 1980's and it wasn't until a few years ago that they discovered the container. Did you have one of these phones? I didn't, but I feel like my sister did. I had the Sabrina Phone.

Yes, I bought one of those for Pretty when she was a teenager. She used it for years.

If I remember correctly it was pretty big and clunky. My sister might have had one. I had the Sabrina The Teenaged witch phone.

Aw poor Garfield phones. Loved and lost at sea.

Yes and I imagine many of unhappy kids and teens at that time too. Bet this was enough lost phones to keep Garfield off the shelf for awhile.

@RebeccasFarm If I catch the older Garfield show (the one from the 90s) I will watch it too.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's a good show. Garfield quote: "Candy, candy, candy!" Another quote: "I want my Mommy!" after he sees ghostly pirates.

My son Dustin always liked Garfield and had a few t-shirts. We did have a phone. Very cute.

Yes, I read this in the news the other day. Such a bizarre phenomena with such weird timing. I enjoyed Garfield cartoons and the comic strip, but I've never had one of those phones. In the stores I never saw them in the toys section. What I often find are just plushies and stationaries. I'd love to get one if I ever find it.

You might find it on an auction site? Is Ebay available in your country? Though I imagine it would be expensive.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh, right. Yeah, Ebay is not so much an option today. The gov tax for every purchase from other countries is pretty high.

That's brilliant. I'm a fan myself. Can't go wrong with Garfield. Did you eat Lasagne too? :)

I'm actually not a big fan of lasagna. I can't eat it now anyway.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's great. At least you've made peace with it. I don't mind it at all.

I never have one of these phones. So it's a usable phone? Not a toy phone.

No, I never had weird looking phones, only traditional phones.

My mother bought a sabrina phone. It was technically the household's second phone but we considered it mine since I asked for it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Those phones did not exist when I was a kid and growing up I never considered to buy a phone different from a classic phone.
