Crochet & Other Things On My Mind

United States
February 10, 2021 1:18pm CST
Thinking of putting two more things OTH. I'm still working on the last pillowcase for my set of pillows but thinking of starting another basket and another pocket scarf too. I haven't really been crocheting the past few days. My tension is off when I'm tense, which makes sense. Baked Chicken, CauliMash & Sweet and Sour Green beans is what's for dinner. I've got the chicken sitting in brine to make it tender. I'll have to set the two tablespoons of butter and cream cheese that I'll need out soon so it can soften, but maybe not too soon since the chicken will take a while to cook. The Sweet And Sour Green Beans are one of my favorites. I make it more sour than I do sweet. Found this interesting about Darwin. Apparently he had a Pros & Cons list of getting married.

@Tina30219 I also leave a little bit of the water from the cans into the mix to dillute it. Maybe a teaspoon or so of water.

Just equal parts of both sugar and white distilled vinegar. Easy peasy!

Those sounds like some good projects to work on. The chicken sounds good too - never heard of sweet and sour green beans!

Oh the chicken was delicious! It was the first time I'd ever brined chicken but it was absolutely delicious. I used the montreal chicken seasoning and garlic.

@MommyOfEli2013 I want to say it's a Mccormick seasoning. It's usually closer to the bottom shelves near the salt.

Equal parts sugar and white distilled vinegar. It's delicious. I tend to make mine with less sugar and more vinegar because that's how the family likes them.

Sounds like you're distracted today. Though your meal plan sounds good. Hope your dinner turns out as well as you hoped.

It's the first time I've ever brined chicken so I hope it works out for me too. I've been... off I guess is the best way to put it.. for the better part of a week.

You're human and that's allowed. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Everyone has times like that. I am still in recovery mode after doingthat cleaning sprint. ut, it's okay. You'll eventually get back to yourself I'm sure.@ScribbledAdNauseum

@kaylachan Thank you and you're right. Of course it's so much easier said than done. Both the cleaning and reminding ourselves to give ourselves a break - mental and physical -

Darwin had some odd views but was sensible. Dinner sounds good.

Right, pretty sensible to lay out the pros and cons. Probably would be called modern day wedding jitters.

They are delicious. Grandmother's recipe and probably her mother's recipe before that. Used to use shelly beans but can't find those anymore. Equal parts sugar and vinegar, or for me, more vinegar than sugar.

I've been crocheting a lot these past few days too. It's a good way to spend the time when the weather is bad. Your dinner sounds really good.

I finished the first single crochet panel of my last pillow and am working on the second already. Our weather hasn't been too bad, but I would really love a snow day to crochet!

Oh yes, His mind must have been a busy and complicated place. Dinner was delicious. First time making the cauliflower mash potatoes on my own and I loved it.
