Day 11 Low Carb

"Low carb" for me has meant FOR SURE less than 50g, but most days around 30g net carbs. What I am NOT liking aboout it is my reduction in vegetable intake, NO fruits (and I love fruits), A few days ago I was feeling EXTREMELY full - after not eating much at all. It was kind of weird. On my days off, I was busy running around, and I actually had to remind myself to eat. I haven't weighed myself in a few days, but I had lost 4 pounds so far, and hopefully more loss when I check again in a couple days. I have been OFF my running game, but have still been walking every day at least. I need to get motivated to do some cardio though, but I figured I'd go easy on myself at first. I AM enjoying being able to have a seltzer or two without having to admonish myself (although no beer has been a challenge). My staples for vegetarian food have been: tofu, broccoli, hard boiled eggs, pistachios and other nuts, spinach, egg bakes, cauliflower rice, and CHEESE! Trying to keep my cheese consumption under control. Tomorrow I am going to try these shiritaki low-carb "noodles" that I have been hearing extreme mixed reviews about. Some say they are stinky and disgusting, others say they are delicious.... Time will tell! So, overall, feeling slightly successful. Haven't had a cheat day, haven't skipped exercise. All is basically going well. My next REAL challenge won't be until I go out of town for a couple days, then being a low-carb vegetarian will be a difficult situation when eating out. But I'll figure it out. How is your diet/exercise going?

I am eating whatever I want..not to excess but whatever I tried all that lo carb, keto, one meal a day and did lose weight but it messed up my blood sugar..a problem I never had before. So..I am eating sensibly and will maybe lose 10lbs in the summer when I get more active. Its 0 degrees F here right now so I am not going out here to walk

Good for you! I had been SO hungry lately. For whatever reason, low carb has made me less hungry than I used to be. Maybe it's the added protein, fat, or less sugar - but wow. What a difference. I have always been so focused on volume, calories, and fat... eating low calorie foods, low fat foods...But maybe the focus needs to be on more filling foods. Who knows. I am enjoying it though. And that's how it's supposed to be, slow and steady! Good for you if you can lose 10 pounds by summer. I am bummed because it's freezing here too - -8 today and going to get colder. BRR. Are you getting a lot of snow this year, too?

Good luck with following your regime. Some are harder to keep to than others.

Thanks. I am surprised that this one doesn't make me feel deprived. So, it hasn't been difficult to follow at all. The main part is that I'm not feeling hungry after or between meals.

I'm doing keep which is lower carbs than what you are doing. I've had those noodles several times and I wouldn't say they are delicious but I'm able to eat them ok. You just have to make sure you rinse them until the weird smell is gone. I like them with pesto sauce on them rather than spaghetti sauce.

It's suddenly December here and that is my excuse for not going outside much today. I've been straying from a vegetarian diet. I must get back closer to it.

Rinse those noodles well, and it gets rid of the smell. I like them in soup, or in salad rolls, not on a plate with sauce. Whether you like them or not, it's worth a try.

Yay! Glad to hear it. They get SUCH mixed reviews online. I did rinse them (not VERY well, but well enough) and just ate them with vegetable broth heated up, and it was good! The texture was a little slimier than I would prefer, but I WILL be eating these again for sure!

That's great to hear about how your low carb journey is going. Sorry about those things you don't like about it. I was told on low carb (even keto) you could at least have the berry kind of fruits. Sounds like some good foods that you have for your staples. Hope you like the shirataki noodles....I couldn't stand them lol. We have some palmini noodles to try (made from hearts of palm).

Is that true? You couldn't stand them? I just tried them today and I was PLEASANTLY surprised after reading reviews! I just put them in some veggie broth heated up. Like a faux ramen noodle. They had a weirder slimy texture, but I will tolerate it. I will look into these palmini noodles! Do you buy this from a special place? I have to say I have read quite a few of your low-carb-y posts, and it's been helpful and inspiring. If you have any specific advice, recipes, or whatever you want to share with me, let me know! I am still very new to this, but REALLY enjoying it so far.

@maezee Well for me, I couldn't get past the texture. I am a big texture person...so that is why I don't like a lot of fruits and veggies (in fact when I am on my low carb way of eating I do more carnivore). Glad you were surprised, and can tolerate the texture. Hope you will like the palmini noodles if you try them...they even make a rice version. I haven't tried them yet though lol. I got mine from a Keto Box subscription. They can be ordered on Amazon though I think. Well I am glad to hear that, thank you! I don't feel very inspiring lately because I have been struggling to stick with it myself. I've got most of my recipes, advice, and etc through people I follow on YouTube for the most part lol. I am glad you are enjoying it! I do think that not being a picky eater helps stick to this way of eating.
