Valentines Day dinner at a steakhouse

For Valentines Day hubby surprised me with dinner at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in Manhattan. This is not the place you go to often unless you happen to be rich because it is a $$$$ restaurant. They even take a deposit when you make a reservation, according to what hubby told me. Service there was top-notch. No one rushed us, even though hubby was told over the phone that the time limit is 1.5 hours when he called to make a reservation. And the wait to get the food was not long at all. We didn't order any appetizers and went straight for the steak. Hubby had a 22 ounce bone-in prime ribeye. I had the 24 ounce prime porterhouse. And for the sides we ordered mac-n-cheese and asparagus. The meat was perfect medium rare. Each bite was delicious. Doesn't come anywhere near homemade steak or steaks we had in other restaurants. You definitely get what you pay for. The steaks were so big we couldn't even finish them and took them home. It will be tonight's dinner. We shared a bottle of California's Pinot Noir wine and had two cappuccinos and warm banana bread with vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was so good. This steakhouse outing was definitely something I didn't expect. I'd definitely go back there some time in the future. It is well worth it.

He sure did. Just wish he'd made it so we'd left the house earlier and could actually find parking on the street and not have to waste $57 on garage parking.

Wow, sounds like a wonderful time and despite the cost, it is nice that you got some big steaks there. I can afford hoity-toity restaurants, but I never go because half the time you spend $100 on a plate and they serve you these tiny little bites of crap that look nice, but you walk away starving from. lol This was a very special night for you, and a very nice surprise. Way to go hubby.

These steaks were huge. In my opinion one of them is enough to share between two people. At first I thought that's what he wanted to do. But he didn't thankfully. I gotta say that I liked the taste of my porterhouse better than his bone-in ribeye. For him it was the other way around. That's kinda weird. Both are seasoned and cooked the same way so why the different taste? Is it just because it's a different cut of meat?

@lovebuglena Yeah, I think it's the cut. Different part of the cow. Different texture and grain of the cut. More fat or less fat. Gives each cut its own "flavor."

Nice hubby! Congratulations! Those are the restaurants I like to go to when I go out. I don“t eat fast food.

I don't eat fast food either. It is only when we are on a road trip that I may do that when we stop at a rest area/service area.

I wish my husband had decided to leave the house earlier so we had time to actually look for parking. Had to park in the garage. It was very expensive. I think it was about $57 for two hours. Maybe slightly longer.

Yeah. I didn't even know he planned something. He said it took a few weeks to finally make a reservation.

It was. We had leftover steak and we had it yesterday. We reheated it in the microwave and it was still really good.

Not sure but before we left hubby said about an hour. But he was sneaky. He went to Manhattan thru NJ instead of through Brooklyn. I thought we were going to eat somewhere in NJ.

It was definitely a nice outing. It was an early dinner. Hubby wanted to make a reservation for later but only 5:30 pm was available.
