Playing Five Crowns

The photo has nothing to do with the post but is another of the murals we saw in Collie, Western Australia.
While our friends were staying with us, we played a few different games. One was a card game called Five Crowns. The wife refuses to play the game just with the husband but she agreed to play as there were four of us. The reason she won’t play when there is just the two of them is that he is incredibly lucky in acquiring the right cards.
The rules are too complicated to explain here but mostly it’s a game of luck. There isn’t a lot of skill involved. However, time and again the husband would be dealt or would pick up the exact cards he needed. There are 23 rounds and the husband won just over half of the rounds. It was really a bit weird.
Are you uncannily lucky at a particular game? Or do you know someone who is?

I can usually zip right through solitaire games, but not really other kinds of games. I do love to play other kinds of games when I can find someone who'll play them with me.

@DaddyEvil Yes, Sequence is great. Qwirkle is good too and all the Ticket To Ride games.

No, I don't know anyone who has great luck at games or particularly card games. Two of the games I like the most are backgammon and Yahtzee and I play these online with my laptop. It is interesting and I enjoy it. That is another beautiful mural and the horse looks like he could just step right out to it

@JudyEv sure can so I try to limit myself it is always that is the laptop wins I have to continue playing until I win just love the challenge

@RasmaSandra Vince thinks the laptop cheats at backgammon. When they get near the end, the computer starts throwing doubles after doubles.

@JudyEv My brother in law (may he rest in peace) always had to blame his kids when lost the chess game with me. "These children I say they don't let me concentrate" was his song (lol)

@allknowing Yes, some always have to have an excuse for why they lost. We sometimes have 'spirited discussions' during our games (that's Vin and I) but in the morning, we can't remember who won or lost. lol

Pinochle is complicated @JudyEv first you have to get the right cards and then you'll have to know how to use them plus if there are 4 players you'd have to know how to tip your partner on what it is you have.
I wasn't the brightest player and all too often I wouldn't play my cards right so would lose. But still, it's fun to play.

My nephew knows how to play cards on a computer like solitaire and other games that my sister and myself have a hard time to solve.
