Have you ever eaten a meyer lemon like you would an orange?

Last week hubby took out a citrus fruit from the fridge, peeled it, and was eating slices of it. He thought it was some kind of orange and couldn't understand why it was pretty sour. I told him to give me a slice so I can try it. I ate one and thought it was a meyer lemon. I looked in the fridge to see if there were two of them there or just one. There was only one. This confirmed that it was indeed a meyer lemon that hubby was eating. Weird that he thought it was an orange when a meyer lemon is not round. Have you ever eaten a meyer lemon like you would an orange?

Never ate one, but that being said I don't like oranges, and lemons not so much either. So I would likely not eat it at all. lol

@porwest Fruits has lots of carbs, no? I am not a huge fruit eater but I enjoy them. Not all fruits though. I am not a fan of fresh apricots but I eat the dried ones. And I will eat apricot jam. Or a pastry with fresh apricots in it.

@lovebuglena Oranges just make me ill. Don't like the taste of them, nor the smell of them. But then, I do not really like any fruit at all.

We have a meyer lemon tree! The lemons can be roundish, but ours are smaller than oranges. I believe it is a cross between lemon and mandarin orange. They aren't as puckery sour like regular lemons, but to me they're not sweet at all like oranges. Interesting he ate it like that . . . I never have (I definitely would have noticed it was not an orange).

@lovebuglena When our lemons get older, they get slightly orange, but they never get very orange. Maybe your New York Meyers are different .

He never did that before. He just mistook it for an orange as the skin is an orange color.

I never tried to eat it. I think I can have it for lemon tea.

Not myself personally, but my nephew has eaten one before. He liked it too which I couldn't begin to understand.

It's not as sour as a regular lemon.

@lovebuglena Ah, it isn't? It's been ages since I've had a reason to use lemons. I usually go with limes.

My husband did and he finally stopped when the dentist warned him about teeth corrosion.

@lovebuglena They do, also the citrus are dangerous, but lemons a lot more, the mix of acidity and sugar.

I ate a few slices but I wouldn't eat the whole thing in one shot though.
