Dream Songs: Dreams (take 2)

Before I head off to who knows where, here’s another song with “dream” in the title. And yes, it’s that one. Everyone knew this one was coming. To no one’s surprise, here it is. Dreams - Fleetwood Mac And I’m sure everyone says the opening line to me when I say I’m out on a jaunt: “now here you go again.” The last album that Stevie Nicks could sing decently on, 1977’s Rumours contributed to a lot of things in her life, including her coke habit and the destruction of her voice (the long, long tour for the album caused her to ignore polyps on her vocal chords, and between those and the aforementioned coke habit, her voice changed.....and not for the better, if you ask me). But there’s something about this entire album: the snide remarks one ex-lover made to another, then then entire band stands up there and plays it live like it’s just another song. Ha. There’s a meme on Facebook that said, in reference to this song, “You may be cool, but you’ll never be Stevie Nicks writing a song about what an a-hole her ex-boyfriend was THEN made him play guitar on it cool.” (Yeah, but Lindsey Buckingham got the upper hand, making her just stand there onstage and play NO instrument while he sang about her! ) It’s overplayed for certain. If the FM rock DJ says that there’s a Fleetwood Mac song coming up, you can bet it’s either this one or “Rhiannon.” Too much of either of those songs will make you sick. But given that I don’t listen to rock radio (I even ditched Sirius XM after the free trial because it was generally more of the same ), I only hear this song in its proper context, and that’s when I listen to the album of monologues of seething disgust that turned into Fleetwood Mac’s greatest commercial accomplishment. Dreams Written by Stevie Nicks Recorded by Fleetwood Mac From Rumours, 1977 When the rain washes you clean you’ll know:

This is one I really enjoy by Fleetwood Mac. Will you have any dream songs by Roy Orbison he has quite a few songs about dreams?

Wow good pick! I need to use that one on my sleep themed quiz I think Stevie sometimes banged on a tambourine. And of course those whirling dervish moves of hers keeps her busy on stage too. Amazing how a love soap opera became such a well-made album of great songs!!!

Sometimes I think she was imagining that tambourine was Lindsey’s head.

I like that song but I've never been a hard core fan of that band. I also don't listen to radio or audio most of the time, I prefer getting giggles from videos of silly puppies, kitties and other kritters.
