My snowglobe

United States
March 11, 2021 3:10pm CST
I would start a collection of these if I could. At the moment I don't really have a feasible place to display them, and snow globes should definitely be displayed. The only one I own at the moment is this one. There's a little inscription that says "Granddaughter I love you to the moon and back" It plays "Always in my heart". I keep it on a hanging shelf with two pictures of my mom as a kid and a picture of my mom holding me as a baby beside it. @CarolDM shared her Eyeore snow globe earlier, which encouraged me to share this one. It rests on a shelf combined with memories. Not just pictures, but also treasures brought back to me from the Bahamas by my SFAM. Do you own any snow globes?

I have never had a snow globe for some reason. I have mine in the blue Eeyore room.

I had a few of the plastic ones that you can get at dollar stores, but this is my first glass one.

I remember that I had two or three snow globes when I was a young girl, I have no idea where they are now.

I can recall my mother making one at one point, but it has been many years. I can recall her buying tiny pieces to suspend in the globe.

@LadyDuck Mother also bought clear plastic globes and put flowers in them. It was these clear globes that she filled and glued together to make a snow globe also.

I love them. To me they are kind of like a stress ball. You just shake them and watch the snow fall.

@Tina30219 More expensive but also more entertaining in my opinion. I'm getting ready to jump offline.

That looks good. I think I have snow globe from the Netherlands given to me by my sister. It must be somewhere in the living room cabinet.

Yes, several of them. Two shake-lite ones on top of the TV and some that are still packed away since we don't have room to put them out.

@DaddyEvil It would take him entirely too long to even realize I had it. I could even picture the conversation. Him: Hey Amber- Oh that's cool! Where did you get that? Me: Uhm, it was yours. Seriously, no lie.. He probably wouldn't even realize it was his at first.

My uncle has one that I am going to just silently steal one day. It's absolutely gorgeous and had to cost several hundred dollars. It also has dragons. I love dragons.

That's a lovely one. I do have a snowglobe that I set out at Christmastime, this one with a white deer and a birch bark design on the base. I got it for 90% off after Christmas at Sears, I think.

I have a half dozen or so snow globes, most from the San Fransisco Music Box Company, a friend of mine from Chicago started sending to me in the early days of our friendship. My favorite one is Phantom of the Opera, I display them on top of my cabinet in my dining room. I always think of her when I see them. One globe has evaporated a little, but they are all still in great shape after 20+ years.

I don't own snow globes, but I also just want to share. My mom collected a lot of stamps. Those stamps belong to my father. He knows that my mom loves stamps so every time he writes him love letters, he puts a stamp even the letter is will directly give to my mom and not to the post office. I ask her once why she doesn't want those stamps to be played by me when I was young. She said it is because it is not just a stamp, it is also a memory.
