Best Response

The old mylot used to do something I thought was pretty fun. You had the option of choosing your "best response" for your own discussion. It was just a nice, little thing to do to acknowledge a really well thought out response. The only downside was that some people thought it got you more money, which it did not. In addition some people would, for who knows what reason, get upset if they didn't get a best response. I mean, it was just a small thing to get upset about. Do you wish they'd bring that back?

Oh I used to enjoy the ratings back then too. The only problem was this was abused by a lot of people and JJ could attest to that as he was one of the victims of those abuse. That’s why it was removed by Mylot.

I remember the star ratings, and totally understood getting rid of that.

NO, anything like this brings discrimination, many sites have removed this kind of features. Bubblews removed the star ratings and the negative rating because people discriminated some users giving hundreds of negative ratings.

I have no idea how that could harbor discrimination over something so innocent, but people are good at that, I guess. It just takes one person to ruin it for everyone.

@AmbiePam People are good at that, when there was a star system some writers used "robots" to get more stars. People an be weird.

It was good, another feature that we had stars. Members get upset on loosing the star. However, now there is nothing to get upset in the new system.

I won't mind it being. And I am okay even if it is not there. I like mylot the way it is..I have not experienced the old mylot and so I am not in a position to compare the two

I remember this feature. Actually I like it because it is a kind of appreciation to the one who responded to your discussions. I hope it can come back

I remember that and I did get a couple of 'best response' tags. It is appreciated but not the whole point of discussion in my opinion.

I agree, and it seemed weird to put so much importance on it. I just thought it was such a small thing and I enjoyed doing it.

Either way would be fine with me. I wasn't here back then so I have nothing to compare it to.

I am fairly new here compared to many others. Happy enough as it is.

It can create unhappiness for some but that cannot be avoided. At other sites I had been in, there was star rating for best posts though it not get any monetary benefits.

It feels weird that people care that much about something so little.

It was a good idea but poorly thought out and in the end it was somewhat abused by people giving 'Best Response' to their cronies. There were many occasions, too, when I would have liked to have given a 'best response' to more than one response, both of which contributed materially to the discussion but in different ways. I think that the system of 'Likes' which we have now is potentially fairer and more accurate in determining the best response because it depends on all of the people reading the discussion to cast a 'vote'.

I miss that option, but I do not miss feeling obligated if nothing stood out to me.

I remember the 'best response'. Maybe it's good they get rid of it.

That sounds interesting but I can imagine it might be difficult to choose the best comment without upsetting all the other commenters.
