I thought a tornado was scary

I have never experienced a tornado and hope I never do. I have seen the reports of places that have been but by a tornado. I live in Texas and there are some small towns in this state. “Small” is about 1600 people make up the population. I saw a news report about a town called Bertram. As I was looking at the damage done to the building, I immediately thought it was the result of a tornado.
WRONG!
I learned something today. Ever hear of straight-line winds? “Straight-line wind is wind that comes out of a thunderstorm.” (REF: theweatherprediction.com/habyhints2/406/)
I had no idea there was such a weather phenomenon. Several buildings completely destroyed.

I have never heard of such a thing. I wonder if that ever happened in NYC.
