I turned the ugly emu into oil

My last post was about a stuffed emu which I thought was very, very ugly – so ugly in fact that I made him into oil. As you can see, I now have a nice little bottle of emu hand cream.
None of that is true, of course, although I do have some emu oil hand cream. It is very effective and doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy which is really good. I hate ending up with greasy hands when I use hand cream.
Emus are farmed in Australia for their oil and for their meat although emu meat has never really become popular in Australia – at least not in restaurants.

I have eaten ostrich meat (as a burger) and it was good. It was so lean that oil had to be added to fry it. I imagine that emu meat would be similar. I had never heard of emu oil but, from reading the link below, it seems to have many health benefits I don't know how good it is as a hand cream, though.
After a devastating crash in the mid-1990s, the emu farming industry is "finally coming to fruition" as scientists discover health benefits within the flightless bird's oil.

@LadyDuck They won't know you are talking to them. None of them will think they are an idiot. You will need to be specific. Say 'Hey you!' and when you have eye contact, then you can say 'Idiot, be gone!' Then run as fast as you can.

I have eaten an emu burger, and liked it. My son uses emu oil on his knees and back.

@Chellezhere The pandemic has put a lot of plans on hold, hasn't it? We would like to go to Ireland again to see our son but I don't know when that is going to happen.

@JudyEv Yes. But, my aunt's widower was from New Zealand, and worked in Australia. My son also has online friends down there and would someday like to live there himself.

I wonder what emu tastes like? I am thinking a very tough duck.

You'd be about right. It's never taken off here. It and the kangaroo are on our coat of arms which puts some people off but heaven knows why.

I'm a bit surprised that it's available and known over there.

They tout that in the States as good for arthritis. Is that true?

I have thought about ordering emu oil. I read it helps fade old scars. I have a couple of scars. It would be nice if it could erase them for good.

The best way to make emu meat popular in Australia is to not tell people they are mixing it in with their food. What people don't know won't hurt them! lol

@JudyEv Exactly. Mix it in with beef. Nobody will know the difference when they're eating their hamburgers!

@JudyEv I don´t say no to different meats before trying them. Some of them I would not have again. Emu was not one I liked.

@marguicha I would try most things too but probably draw the line at insects although I have eaten a witchetty grub. I'd draw the line at crickets/grasshoppers/etc.

I don`t like to interfere , but I think your oil is a bit past it`s sell by date. I can see a sticker with 2019 on it.

) abandon. Maybe all the unicorns were eaten in previous times. And I'd check out that roast if I were you.

I'll change it back just for you.
