Darby Voeks who is a surfer was the right place at the right time on Thursday when a female who was riding on a wheelchair managed to get his attention that her aide was struggling to stay afloat in Lake Superior when the man attempted to rescue a dog that fell into the lake. Darby then did his duty to make an attempt to jump into the lake while he was wearing his work clothes to rescue the man and his dog one at a time. Darby face extremely rough waters when he rescued the man who was tired when Darby managed to get the man who was in trouble close to the pier where Darby used a life ring to get the man to safety. By the time that the dog was rescued by Darby and taken to the shore, the U S Coast Guard and the Duluth fire department were there to lend a hand to the victims of the incident to take the accident victim to a local hospital to be treated for hypothermia. Darby will be rewarded by the Duluth Fire Department officials for saving the life of the stranger and the dog with the Police Partnership Award in a future ceremony. The best part of this story is that Darby was a very happy man saving the life of someone who needed his assistance.

Great story! It's remarkable people have something inside them that makes them risk their own safety to help others in need. It always amazes me the sacrifice they make and the heroism they display Most people would not risk their own life.
