Another interesting day at Guitar Center! Does God have a sense of humor?

We had a small Open House today (Saturday) at Guitar Center. My job at Open Houses is to try to get people to sign up for guitar (or piano or whatever) lessons. But when I have down time, I turn into a humble sales person in the acoustic guitar room. Today, I got two people interested in guitar lessons. They didn't sign up. Yet. My hope is that they will. But the oddity is that I sold another guitar. A fella was considering three different guitars, and I tuned them all up for him so he could experiment with them. He left the store with a new guitar. As I mentioned in a previous post, it's ironic that I am NOT a salesperson, and I abhor corporate greed, yet I'm currently better at selling guitars for Guitar Center than I am at signing up people for lessons with me. Do you think God has a sense of humor? I love irony.

Maybe you should have a talk with "your boss" to see if you could get a commision

Heh. I'm thinking about it. If this keeps happening, I'll have to bring it up.

@xander6464 Heh. The "aw shucks" part of my personalty would make that difficult.

@xander6464 I wonder how much wiggle room there is at Guitar Center.

Congrats on selling a guitar. Yes, I think the Lord has a fine sense of humor, There are times when things seem topsy turvy to me and I look up in exasperation and I could imagine Him chuckling up there,

@RasmaSandra I do the same. I just look up toward the sky and chuckle.

I love those moments. Maybe they're reminders to keep the faith and do what you do.

I would rather teach people to play than have them buy new material possessions.

@Lucky15 Exactly. Wooden things decay. As beautiful as they may be. But love of music can be passed on for decades, even centuries.

**repleat** sales = connection you connect very well! Now, i would ask you this. What is wrong with sales? Yes, we all fear the used car salesperson (this baby runs like a charm. we all know charms don't run so when the car stops 100 yards from the dealership, and looking back the dealership has a closed sign in the window you realize it was truly a charm). But sales as I said in your last post is a connection. When you care about what you are selling, what's wrong with being a sales person?

Actually, nothing. But it's uncharted territory for me. So it feels odd.

@TheHorse teaching my friend is selling. You have information, guidance and structure and you impart that to someone that doesn't know if they actually want it!

I think you need to ask commission for every sales you make. You're good at it.

You should ask for commission for selling those guitars. That way corporate greed will be lesser served.

You have many gifts. Hopefully, one guitar buyer will want lessons. You have to sell yourself, too.

I have no qualms with selling and no qualms with greed. Both have served me quite well, and incidentally I also really like money. lol. But yes. It IS ironic that you work for a corporate conglomerate and not Pete's Little Tiny I Wish We Had The Guitar You Wanted store.
