Next week, an estate agent is visiting us to list our house for sale. We are trying to make the place look as nice as possible and have employed our neighbour’s son to help with some tidying up. Today, Vince got a trailerload of mulch and the three of us spread it on the front garden. There are no plants there but the mulch will look nicer than the bare earth. We then went down the paddock and loaded up some firewood which Vince had sawed up a day or two ago. Simon then went home and Vince got another load of mulch. Tomorrow, the three of us will spread the rest of the mulch and maybe pick up a trailerload or two of dead branches. We’ve also contacted a man to do some earthworks on our road as it is very rough at the moment. And lastly, we have also hired a small storage unit so we can store items that will be going to the car boot sale which is in a fortnight. The photo is of the mulch we’ve spread.

@JudyEv I am glad, houses are selling well here too, while in Italy there is a stagnation of the market.

@LadyDuck One of Vince's golfing friends were thinking it might take two years to get the price they wanted but it took two weeks. Housing seems hard to find here.

@JudyEv Your roos and your property were the topic of conversation with Hubby this morning with coffee . . . a move to Australia even appealed to him! Well thank you for sharing your world with us. There will be new things to share by the end of the year!

It isn't going to be easy but at some stage we'd have to move. Probably better to do it now than when we have less choice perhaps.

We can't really plant it with flowers as the 'roos eat any plants we plant and the yard doesn't really lend itself to being fenced to keep them (the roos) out.

We are going to a lifestyle village. We will have our own house which we will own outright but it is in a gated estate which has a number of communal facilities - swimming pool, theatre, barbecue area, gym, etc.

@JudyEv - I used to be a Realtor and I agree that you want things to look neat, clean and smooth when you show your home. The mulch was a great idea! Keep it simple and do not over decorate. A few flowers in or around the house can brighten things up. Baking a pie or putting apples and cinnamon in a slow cooker before home showings can really make your house smell wonderful. They say that people who cannot remember the details of a house will remember if it smelled bad. Be patient and do what your Realtor suggests. I'm sure your house will sell. Sending good thoughts your way!

@JudyEv - Reducing clutter is always a good idea when selling a home. If the rooms are large, that will be very appealing to a lot of people. I will be interested to hear what your local Realtor tells you, when you meet with them. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. We intend to get rid of a few pieces of furniture to make the rooms look more spacious. They are all decent size rooms anyway but we'll clear away any clutter. Baking something nice is a good idea.
