Another of our projects - an old one

We’ve been cleaning the back verandah with a water pressure cleaner. We shifted everything out of the way as the water goes everywhere. What you see in the photo is another of our projects which we would have been completed soon after we came here 17 years ago. In winter, it holds wood for the tile fire inside. We take the wood away during summer in case we have a bushfire. Then it becomes a holdall for all sorts of things. The shelves are chipboard and, over time, they’ve got damp from time to time and they’re now starting to show their age. The chipboard came from offcuts at a school and didn’t cost us anything. The steel tubing has been used for many of our projects. Now I’m waiting for the verandah to dry so I can put all the stuff back. We’re only putting back what we want to keep.

@JudyEv I can understand that you have a lot to do to sell your home.

@Hannihar I know we don't need many of the possessions we have at the moment.

@JudyEv I know that feeling. I lived in a rented apartment for many many years before moved here and had to throw so much because this place is smaller.

We did the front verandah today. It's made a huge difference. Tomorrow I'll wash all the windows.

Do you know I have a kilo these last few weeks? That's 2.2 lb. Isn't that another bonus?

Even if it's starting to show its age, it is still a great shelving space that surely was of good use during the years.

It has certainly had a lot of use. Hopefully the new owners will keep it for wood storage too.

That's our plan too. This place would be a nightmare for someone to have to pack up in a hurry.

It's rubbishy wood in a way, made from compressed fibres but it's cheaper than pure timber.

That’s great organizing. I want to clean up in the house too and get rid of stuff. We have too many things that we aren’t even using anymore.

Haha. That would certainly improve it! I thought of you the other day. We have two speakers to get rid of. They'll probably go to the op shop.

To me it is just a flat surface, And for the wife and I anything that has a flat surface becomes a wasteland of crap. I have never been able to get away from that and to this day flat surfaces haunt me. lol

It gets a bit messy in the summer but in the winter it is full of wood and saves us continually going over to the woodshed.

When we have a heavy downpour, the gutters can't take all the water and it then runs down the wall and this unit then gets a bit wet. It is just about due for new shelves but it will last a bit longer yet.
