It costs me a pretty penny in...

...buying a virtual reality gadget. Since my little niece is staying at home for more than a year. I promised to buy her this as a reward for studying well. She is having a good time using it now. There is nothing to feel about wasting money because it is worth it. Did it cost you a pretty penny lately? Is a reward system effective for your kids? Image Credit: data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j

@rakski At some point, some kids do not need a reward

Once upon a time virtual reality wouldn't be used anymore.

@May2k8 If it happens, a new one will go along with that.

Rewards systems often work for kids. And it helps them grow into smart adults who learn healthy habits if rewards are used correctly. Spending money on a child should not be considered a bad thing.

I totally agree with you. The adults need to balance this idea. Some kids are spoiled brats. Luckily, my niece isn't like them,

It seems that she needs not to be rewarded, but I am curious why.

None that I can think of. I think reward systems are good but doing the deed in itself should be the reward already.

@LadyDuck That is also noted and always bear in mind. I know that this pandemic can cause a lot of budgeting.

@Shavkat What I try to do, is to avoid to buy things that are expensive and we do not really need.

We have several of the virtual reality gadgets here. I always wait until they go on clearance and then buy different ones for Pretty. She's a big kid now and can buy her own stuff.

@Shavkat I have two brand new sets in my closet that have never been opened. One of these days I may get bored enough to open one and play with it.

Can't afford anything that would cost a pretty penny right now. Glad your niece has done well and likes her reward

I am also considering being more practical during this pandemic. It wasn't all the time to give something to my niece.
