Found My First Bird Nest Today

While out walking around in the yard I keep seeing mockingbirds come in and out of my privet bush in the front. I had my phone camera with me, so I slowly walked up, and peeked inside. There it was, a nest of twigs and straw. Snapped a quick photo. Hopefully there will be eggs soon. Spring is full of little surprises.

Every year I get a birds nest in the bush by my front door. I'm always amazed at how creative birds are when building their nests

And you can usually tell which bird made the nest. Most of them have their own design and materials.

@CarolDM As long as they aren't scared away, any reason they wouldn't?

@kaylachan Sacred away by humans and/or birds. Or if they find a better spot.

I had to be very quiet since I didn't know if there was bird sitting on the nest. Camo is on and ready today. But not the camo tent. My husband said he would pay money to see that.

I have often heard of mockingbirds, but have no idea what they look like. Off to Wikipedia, I guess!

Very cool. Birds usually nest on top of our coach light by the side of the house.

Funny how each one finds a different site to build. Hidden and some out in the open.

That was a nice surprise, I always enjoyed seeing bird nests in the spring in Latvia particularly when the storks returned and put their big nest atop of telephone and electric wooden poles

Awesome find. Its very hard to find a bird´s nest around here but if I go further out I am seeing a biggish nest right at the very top of a big tree very high up indeed. Hope you can get to photograph them those birds and their eggs.
