FINALLY. Bean Soup Tonight

The picture does not do this any justice. But just take my word for it, it will be good. Boiled off the last of the ham from the ham bone last night, and tonight I am making the bean soup. I have Great Northern and pinto beans in there. Carrots. Onions. Garlic. Mushrooms. Diced tomatoes. Tomato sauce. Spiced it up with garlic powder, oregano and Italian seasoning, and a little salt and pepper, and a touch or two of chicken broth. Most likely we will serve with some crushed saltine crackers and shredded cheese. I think this will be good. What's going on your dinner plate tonight?

@TheHorse I always have some cans on hand and love to eat it often. I got a good brand Brookdale from Aldi and so I stock up.

I have been grazing on sushi for the last couple of hours. I will send you (thoughts of) my fresh cilantro right now. It would go great on your beans.

Cilantro good. Sushi bad. But I am not going to knock you. I think cilantro would be delicious on beans. But cilantro might be good on a turd.

@porwest I grazed on some of mine today. I am glad I was finally able to grow cilantro. I may get some quality Mexican and Thai food soon so I can add my cilantro.

@TheHorse Super fresh cilantro is even better. I can put that sh*t in anything. I have even put cilantro in scrambled eggs.

That sounds so good. I had some Italian sausages baked with G Hughes sugar free BBQ sauce. Most my veggies were at lunch earlier so I ate those by themselves. I almost made Bavarian sauerkraut but lost the energy.

@porwest They have a dipping sauce as well. It's very good. I did some food prep yesterday and made beans. Just had a bowl for lunch and so good.

@noni1959 Beans are one of those foods I love but only prepare a few ways. I really need to "expand my horizons" on them.

I never made bean soup before as I am not much of a fan of bean soup, though I have ordered it a few times when we went out for dinner. I do like pinto beans though and use them in my omelette. Goya is the brand I get.

@porwest I never thought of it until fairly recently. I really like it. I usually get pinto beans. But I also love pigeon peas. I wonder why they are called that way. They are green but they are not even peas. What does pigeon have to do with it?

@LindaOHio I don't eat a lot of beef anymore either. Not nearly like I used to. Anymore it's pork, chicken, fish, and beef...in that order.
