A friend was asking me to visit him today. I am sorry that I need to refuse to do so. You might be thinking that I am a bad person. Let me explain my side, I did this because I cannot afford to get sick. Of course, he might be infected with a virus. Am I a bad friend? Image Credit: miro.medium.com

No. It's good to keep yourself safe and healthy first I hope your friend recuperates and get well soon.

I just took the liberty to say that I am busy for the day. I do not want to be so frank as to tell him my real reason not to come.

You must take care of yourself. If this is a true friend, they will understand.

You are very much right. If he is really my true friend, he will understand the current situation why it shouldn't be.

No. I don't think you are. Before COVID, I might've said differently, because of the fact that you could still work if you got sick. You could still provide for yourself and your family. Now, in the "new" normal, not only do you feel miserable if you get sick, but employers have to give you time off , but don't pay you for it. If you get sick, the first thing people think of, is COVID and refuse to think of anything else. You need to protect yourself now more than ever, and should be ashamed.

I also told him that we both are not vaccinated yet. Being persistent will not work for me due to this pandemic. In the end, he was able to understand my point.

No.. you are fine. These days as coronavirus is spreading so fast so it's advisable not to visit anyone's home specially those who are not well/ill and I think if your friend is mature enough he will understand the same.

I am not sure if he is making a prank with this coming to visit him. Regardless, I am not going to give in to his request this time.

He knew the fact that I do not want to go out as much as possible since the lockdown. I was jokingly said that he needs to conceal his feelings about this matter. I will call a frontliner to come to visit him if he wants to.

I do think that it was a good judgment not to come. I, myself is trying to be safe and this is not the right time to visit him.

OMG! You're a terrible person! What you need to do is call your friend, cough a little as he answers the phone and then tell him you have Covid but are on your way over to visit him. If he's sick, he shouldn't have ask you to visit.

@DaddyEvil He is just being weird today. I thought you are not going to have this shot. My mom still does not want to have it. We are planning to have these shots next year.

@Shavkat Does your friend think he's dying? I might ask you to come visit me if I thought I was dying. Pretty and I had our first vaccination shot for Covid yesterday. She has an upset stomach, headache and her arm hurts. I have been very tired but otherwise feel fine.

By Rufo @Shavkat You are not a bad person or bad friend because you did not visit your sick friend. You have your reasons and it is called Corona. I do not blame you. I have a friend that was not feeling well and talked to her on the phone. Talking on the phone is just as good right now as to visiting in person. You are right you might catch something and then bring it home to your family and catching things right now is not safe. You need to be safe.

He seems so weird to ask me to visit him. He is trying to persuade me but it did not work. You said it right with the idea of audio calling or video calling instead.

@Shavkat I am glad that I helped. He must be very lonely that he insists that you come visit and is not thinking clearly. I do not know him so do not know if that is true or not or if he is always like that not thinking of you and try and understand why you cannot visit him when he is sick.

On the other side of this situation, it is possible to visit him with a face mask and the like. Deep inside, I do not want to take the risk.
22 Apr 21
No, it's okay and I think your friend might understand your situation. I hope your friend a quick recovery.
