Shred event

It seems that every one came out for the shred event at my bank today. It only took twenty minutes to get through the line but the line went this way and that and a few people didn't get that we were in line a while and tried to cut. Course your had to figure out where the beginning was and then hope someone coming in off the street let you in. I typically go every spring but they didn't have it last year. They did have it in the fall but I've never made it to that one. Looks like everyone else was in the same boat. The shred event is the truck in the last picture being there too take important papers from people to shred them right on the truck as they were dropped off. It's a way for people to not have to do the shredding themselves which is helpful for those owning small businesses.

This is what we have here, a sort of container where you shred your papers and then it is removed by a truck, usually once a week.

@LadyDuck I heard there's a place near my bank that has the service available year round that I have to call and ask to see if that's true.

@arunima25 it's announced in their web site and it's only done twice or year on specific days within two hours. Other years when I've gone there wasn't any lines but last year they didn't do it.

@MarshaMusselman Oh! That sounds interesting. It would be an alien thing for our country. I am surprised to see such a long queue. Do they have particular days for such event? Are announcements made beforehand?

I don't know what a Shred event means. Pretty and I got our first Covid shot yesterday after I scraped the four inches of snow off our car before we could leave. I kept waiting to see if you were going to show up and scrape my car for me but you never did. *sigh*

@MarshaMusselman Oh, I see... We've had the extra cold and then snow yesterday. It was cold today, too. My phone says the temp will reach 80F here in a couple of days. We have our own shredder but haven't used it in a long time. We really don't have much use for it.

@DaddyEvil I have a lot of stuff to shred seeing that I run a small business.. I have my own shredder at home too but haven't used it in years. It's noisy and takes too long with what we have to keep shredded.

Lol, I've been busy and worked yesterday. We didn't get snow this week but we got extra cold temps. Hopefully not so cold too kill fruit trees etc A shed event is when a bank or other passion makes it available for people to bring agreed material to get shredded. Many do their own shredding but for some of us we have to many other things to do. Some people only had one box of papers. I had six yeah bags.

Sorry, but I haven't got the foggiest idea what you're telling us here. Btw, you've used 'shed' and 'shred', so I don't know what is supposed to be correct.

Shred. I added a paragraph trying to explain better. Most people here have waste cans with a unit on top that will shred important papers, tax documents and expired credit cards. But those shredders take a long time if you have a lot of paper to go through. This is a way to take your papers to a location to have them shredded on the spot.

And if you don't have a lot to shred them there personal ones works just fine. We did use that in the beginning until my husband for hurt and I had to do more.

There were so many cars there I did wonder if they were going to drive away before everyone got taken care of. But since they agreed on the spot it's probably r easier to crush it down so more can fit.

Seems like this could be useful. At first I thought it might be silly for individuals. I mean, how much does one need to shred? But it makes perfect sense for small business owners and others who probably have a lot more shredding to do.

I agree and it's possible other banks do it to and their patrons or members just don't know about it.
