Nothing like a birthday or 60 to make you feel old. I’m celebrating my birthday earlier this month with songs that have “old” and “age in the title. With the “age” song already posted, here’s today’s great tune with “old” in the title. #3: Old Paint - Linda Ronstadt Oh, how I miss John Roberts. He loves Linda Ronstadt, and I think of him every time I post one of her songs. Of course, I love Linda Ronstadt, too. Heck, who doesn’t, with that incredible voice of hers. This song — heck, this entire album (1977’s Simple Dreams) — shows how effortlessly she could sing anything. Yeah, the cover of the Stones’ “Tumbling Dice” wasn’t well advised, but she DID rock out on it. On the total opposite end of the spectrum, she closed out the album with this stunning cover of a traditional cowboy tune. There are a few million versions of this song out there that I could’ve chosen. I went with what I consider the most simple and beautiful rendition.
