Seven Layer Salad Dinner

Thought of another favorite dish from days gone by to have for dinner. It is called a seven layer salad. Easy peasy to make and very good. You can substitute other ingredients and add what you like, of course. And it is good the next day as a leftover as well. I remember at our family gatherings and church dinners always having this salad. It was a favorite then, and still is today. Every tried it before?

That looks good! I've made a 7 layer Mexican dip for an appetizer for parties before but never a salad like this.

I almost love it. I’ll take a five-layer salad, because I’m allergic to bacon and peas. (I know, who invited me? ) Yep, the ol’ 7-layer salad is a southern staple.

How do you take it apart? Just dig in and ruin the look?

I have seen them but never had them. A friend made a Mexican 7 layer dip for a church dinner and I tried that and liked it. I am enjoying seeing your blasts from the past dinners. Have a good evening.

Yes, it is very good when the lettuce is not iceberg, and the Romaine isn't infected with E. coli or listeria. I am very picky about lettuce.

@CarolDM We had a garden as well. It was really my grandfather's (we lived under the same roof). We lived in suburban Philly, and did not need a vegetable garden. But, since Pop was the son of a farmer, and the 1970s weren't too far removed from the World Wars, I think this was kind of like a Victory Garden for him.
