Red spray paint

At the base of one of our two cedar trees in front, I saw a spot of red spray paint. I did not think much of it. I thought perhaps I had accidentally done it one day.
Then I get to the other side of the yard, where there is a kind of tree row and a number of young trees are marked. So is the other cedar.
I began to get a sinking feeling. In our other town the city would come by and mark trees. If a tree in your yard was marked, YOU the homeowner had to pay to have it removed and the stump ground out. This was looking to be very expensive.
Well, that is not what this paint is all about.
Yes, trees are either going to be trimmed (the cedars) or removed, by the ELECTRIC PROVIDER for FREE. That is to get them out of the lines. In the case of the cedars it is likely to be safer for our roof as well.
Trimmig them ut of the lines helps prevent outages and fires as well. I am glad Evergy is being proactive.

I was surprised that the energy company was doing it for free. We actually had to sign a request for them to do it.

@GardenGerty If we don't keep the lines free, they will do it but they'll charge us for it.

I never thought of that. My experience is with the tree removal aspect of red paint.

Oh me too. It would be very pricey. Also glad the big trees are just a trim.

The big trees are only a trim. Small ones that are kind of volunteers are going to come out.
