New dog breeds on the horizon

None of the following should be taken seriously. It's all just a joke. I’ve been going through our filing cabinet and came across a cutting that must have taken my fancy at the time. Part of the article is about finding names for new dog breeds which are created when two pure breeds are mated. I thought some of them were very clever. The author also assigned a character to them. So there is a ‘Collapso’ – a cross between a Collie and a Lhaso Apso. It folds up for easy transportation. Then there is the Blue Skye – a cross between a Kerry Blue terrier and a Skye terrier – a dog for visionaries. The Peekasso is an abstract dog gained by crossing a Pekingese with a Lhaso Apso. However, a cross between a Bull Terrier and Shitzu results in a Terrierzu and not a Bullsh*t. lol Maybe you can think of others. The photo is of Rosie who used to visit us when we first moved here. She loved to pick up sticks but would never give any back.

I think we could use a cross between a Border Collie and a Hound Dog between Mexico and Texas. We'd call it a Border Hound. Rosie is/was a beautiful dog.

@Namelesss Border Hound sounds interesting. Is it trained by the police?

We could also cross a LabraDOOR with a Harvey WALL Banger and have a really drunk LabraWall, lol.

The story may be a fictional and made up but scientists must be extremely careful while developing a new breed. God knows present outbreak of coronavirus may be the result of such invention gone out of control.

@msdivkar Yes playing too much with nature can be counter-productive.

@JudyEv Yes we read so many fiction stories about cross breeds going wrong. The reality sometimes is worse than the fiction.

What you say is very true. Some crossbreeds don't really work but sometimes the results are good.

@JudyEv Rosie is a beautiful dog. The Bull Terrier and Shitzu part made me smile as I used to laugh at that in the Dumb and Dumber movie. One of the characters said that and I thought it was classic.

I like clever lines. Rosie was a great character. She always had to stuff as many sticks in her mouth as she could. She'd drop the lot and try to rearrange them so she could pick them all up any extra one.

@JudyEv She had to go on her rounds. My former dog used to like to walk around the perimeter of the house outside a few times a day to make sure all was well!

Good post Judy, Recognising dog breeds on the horizon would be difficult, especially if new, and doubly difficult with my eyes.

Rosie visited all the houses in our valley several times a week. She'd just pay her respects then move on to the next house.

@JudyEv If that last pair are ever bred, I think the name would actually be Terrizu, but the one from the article is funny. Mine is just realistic. *sigh* I think I have too literal of an imagination.

I hope Rosie can make the best of these sticks. Here we call dog an "Aspin" or "Askal" those that has no pure breed. "As" from aso(dog) and "pin" for Pinoy (Filipino). Askal is translated as "asong kalye" or street(kalye) dog.

Every time you threw Rosie a stick she'd drop the others and then try to pick them all up.

That's a really good one! I know of a cavoodle too - a Cavalier Charles Spaniel and a poodle. The poodle cross are popular because of their non-allergenic fur.

Chow Pei - a cross between a Chow-Chow and a Shar-Pei. I had one years ago, but do not have any pictures. Her name was Roxie, and she looked kind of like a wrinkly-faced fawn with no spots.
